The Painted Hole

The trudge of snow echoed through the quite neighbourhood. The sun was low and the evening fog still clung around.  A short but stylish girl moved through the snow as it gripped onto her boots.  “What an eerie day.” The girl spoke as she came to a tree which leaves where snow white but the trunk was dry and warm.  The threw her leg over the tree and pulled herself up.  Carefully she undid her little backpack and pulled out paper and a pen.  “Now, what can I write about?” Spoke the girl out loud as fog seemed to come from her mouth when the heat meets the cold.  The girl began to write and write and as she did the sun started to peep up behind the clouds.  “The mystery key by Natalie Leah. The fog surrounded the key… and Emily knew she couldn’t get to it in time… she was going to die” Mumbled the girl.  She sighed as she read her words aloud then folded it away and into her bag. “Oh Natalie, if you ever want to be a writer you’re going to have to practice!”  The girls name was Natalie Leah and it was her dream to become the best author the world has ever seen. She had brown hair and hazel eyes and often wore stylish scarfs and mittens. 

The neighbourhood started to awake and the busy hustle of marketers and school kids started to stir.  “Hey Natalie!” A girl with elegant long blonde hair and a pink beany on her head looked up the tree at Natalie. “Oh hey Rita!”  Natalie smiled as she greeted her friend and climbed down the tree.                                               “How early were you up this time? You know you need a rest you’re always writing.”  Laughed Rita as she watched Natalie climb down the tree. “Only 5:30 today!” Giggled Natalie as she started to walk beside her friend on the way to school.  “Hey Natalie, you’ve never told me.  Who are you crushing on at school? I mean come on there are a few cute boys!” Rita questioned Natalie.  Natalie went silent as if she was thinking. “No one honestly.  I’d rather be with one of my book characters then one of them!” exclaimed Natalie as she trudged through the snow. Rita giggled “Your weird, but that’s why I love ya bestie!”  The two girls laughed and talked as they walked to school.  The two girls arrived at the school just as the bell rung. “Well I’ll see you later!”  Rita said as she ran off to class.  Natalie waved and walked off.  She had English class first. The day seemed to go fast, and as per usual Natalie would write her stories at breaks and work hard in all her classes.  

The key to save the lost

  “Honestly Naomi, if you really think there is more than the hundreds of animals we have here, you’re just hallucinating. What more do you want, we already have dragons and unicorns. What other town has that!” Complained a girl named Astrid. “Oh Astrid, I’m not hallucinating I saw one I swear, somewhere out there is a wonderland full of magic, unicorns that glow and dragons too! Any pet you can imagine glittering like a glow worm!”  Naomi has always been fascinated in magic, and she suspected a whole world out there. When she was little she swears she spied a glowing unicorn pounce into the forest and away from sight.  In Swivel Town magical creatures weren’t uncommon. Most people had a unicorn or dragon.  Naomi was a short girl, she had long brown hair and usually did it up in petit French braids. She wasn’t very girly and tended to wear jeans and crop tops, she wore a beautiful necklace of sea shell and gold that her mother gave her on her ninth birthday. Her eyes were a bright blue, and intently gleamed as if magic was inside them.  “Whatever Naomi, you’re such a freak, come on shady.” Astrid flicked her long blonde hair and spun around. She usually wore pink and was known as a mean girl.  Her parents worked as Dragon sitters, and being in Swivel Town. They made a LOT of money.  Shady was only one of her hundreds of rare and legendary pets. “Whatever you say, but one day I will find them I swear. Then you will see!” Naomi intended on finding this world no matter what, a few others in the daily newspaper stated that a wonderland full of magic was somewhere and maybe one day they would find it.   Recently an uproar over whether it was true or not had slipped in here and there but nether less she had seen it with her own eyes. Sometimes you have to realise things are real without seeing and believing. ”What’s the point treating others like that.” Sighed Naomi, she wasn’t going to cry, she was used to it by then and she knew, crying only made the matter worse. She looked down at the pebble ground and then to her left. There she saw marble, which was her fennec fox.  Oh marble she thought, will we ever find a way there. And as if he had heard her he jumped up against her leg, in a supportive kind of way. She reached down and pet him. “Come on marble, let’s go on our daily search“   Quickly the two of them ran off into the forest. They were never supposed to go to the east of the forest, it was dangerous and people never returned. It was said that the great demented buffalo lurked there, or maybe even vicious wolves. But deep down Naomi knew, that the entrance would be in there. “Today’s the day marble.” Sighed Naomi as she reached down grabbing a long sharp stick. “Now we are going into the east of the forest I don’t care what they say” She picked up a rock and sharpened the rock into a spear. “If anything happens I want you to run back and get dad, ok?” Marble nodded as if he understood clearly of how important his job was.  Naomi took one look around and then marched into the under growth.   

  The crackle of dry autumn leaves crunched beneath her feet as she moved deeper into the twisted trees.  Slowly she came to a halt, as an echo passed through the trees. She had heard this before, when she was little a great buffalo had entered the town, it had black empty eyes and scars and scratches ran down his body where wolves had failed to kill. “S-shoot its coming.” She fumbled and held the spear close, as a rumble on the forest floor alerted her it was close.  Her heart pounded and before she could run the rumbling stopped, and there in front of her was the MASSIVE buffalo. She stood there shaking terrified. She realised the spear would do nothing so she threw it to the side. Its black empty gleaming eyes focused on hers. “Please... I’m sorry I’m not here to hunt you or anything else, I’m looking for something, a magical place where the glow is so bright and the wonder is so amazing that someone could never believe it was real. I saw a glowing Unicorn when I was small, please…’’ She gasped out the words still terrified. To her enormous surprise the beast sat, a low rumble voice creaked out.  “If you have seen the magical unicorn you must know where the entrances is, a vision would have been given. “    She stared at the ground and worked her brain. “Th-there was a door” she remembered, “When I slept that night, I saw a door! That’s right, a door! Over the water… but where?” She franticly spoke as she remembered. “Ah, so you are the chosen one. Get on my back, and the fox he can tag along. “   Croaked the buffalo. She approached him cautiously and threw her leg gently over his back and pulled herself up. She knew how to mount, since unicorns were the general transport in the town. She sat up straight, “ok, I’m ready” and  they trotted off into the darkness, marble struggling to keep up leaped onto his back and soon enough they came to a little stream, A small pebble bridge overhung the stream and down under the bridge stood a small wooden door, with a padlock keeping it shut. “There is the door, however you cannot get in without the key… I may give you a hint but after that it is up to you to free the creatures.” He grumbled. “Free them?? “  She gasped in shock. “Well yes, who do you think locked them up in there, the government of course? There always scared of what’s new and now it’s up to you.” He sighed. “And do me a favour, take my grandson with you he will help. “ He turned around because he could hear a scream of excitement.  “BUF! Is that a human?? I have never seen another.”   A boy with bright brown eyes and hazel hair came to a stop next to the buffalo. “Yes Sam, This is Sam I adopted him when he was only a wee baby, someone had tossed him into the river.” Sighed the buffalo. “That’s horrible who would do such a thing” she replied. “We don’t know, but I’m going to assist you on your quest!”  Sam spoke proudly and seriously.  “ Alright then you younglings, the only thing I have been told is that somewhere were the mermaids sing a closer step to the key you will be.” Grunted the buffalo. “I have been thinking about that for quite a while and I suspect it is near mermaid lagoon, head down that way and ask Star about it.” He turned to Sam as he spoke.  Marble jumped of the Buffalos back and sat next to him. ’’Your fox can stay with me, now go I can sense the wolves have awoken, I will keep them back for now but they will eventually track you down if you don’t travel fast.” Muttered the buffalo.    Sam grabbed Naomi by the hand and pulled her off along a broken track of sticks and stones. “Wow! This is my first ever quest, I couldn’t wait for the chosen one. It’s a shame you’re a girl but, I can deal with you” chuckled Sam as they paced through the forest.  “What is your name?”  Questioned Sam.  “Naomi, Naomi kale.”  She responded heavily as she inhaled a deep breathe to continue the fast pace through the forest.  “Well, Naomi Kale. Today is your lucky day. You happen to be walking right next to the most handsome Sam to ever be seen!”  Sam boasted loudly.  Naomi burst into laughter, “I have seen a lot better, but don’t get to full of yourself let’s just find the key. Ok?” Sam shook his head “You’re no fun, you know that?” Naomi shrugged and continued to trudge through the forest floor.  “Well you know my story, I was thrown into a river and raised by a feared buffalo. But what is your story?” Questioned Sam intently. Naomi stopped for a moment, and then started to walk again. “Well, I live with my dad, I grew up on the farm and all I knew was how to dig and talk, and not cry when I fell over.  My mum was the most gorgeous thing, long hair and bright blue eyes. But... I remember the tragic day she died. It was the hurricane emui, you know the one around 4 years ago? She was making sure the animals in the barn were okay and the whole thing collapsed on her. I was ten when I lost my mother. Only a few days after her death I saw the unicorn, and now I’m desperate to find it. Maybe even because it feels like a link to my mother in a way.  No one believes what I saw and everyone knows me as the make believe girl. But I know what I saw is real, and some way I will find them.” Sighed Naomi. “I’m 14 now, almost 15 and that’s about it.” She sighed. ”That’s terrible, I’m sorry that happened to you… I never even knew my family. Oh and I’m 15 turning 16 in a few months’ time.” Responded Sam.   The two of them remained silent for a while listening to the crunch of the leaves.  “Uhm, well we are almost there.” Sighed Sam as he spied the glint of light up ahead.    Sam stopped still for a second and stared around, Naomi kept walking.  “NO STOP!” Sam yelled as he grabbed her arm pulling her back. “There… ahead of us, there’s a pack of wolves, they’ve been following us. They are trying to trap us in.” A crack of branches sounded to the left of them and a wolf lurched out at them. Naomi screamed as it jumped on top of her, it scratched at her face leaving a mark and then went for her neck. Luckily Sam grabbed it by the tail and pulled it away. “RUN, were almost there HURRY RUN AND JUMP INTO THE LAKE” Screamed Sam. The two of them started sprinting towards the light as the wolves jumped at them and bared their teeth. Naomi’s heart beat fast, she could feel the blood in her veins and the pain of the scratch on her face, the edge was near and Naomi leaped, landing with a splash in the water. She turned around to see Sam jumping after her and landing next to her with a splash.  “Quick follow me” Sam gurgled as he swum further into the depths. Naomi wasn’t the best swimmer but she slapped her way after Sam, her scratch stung as the water cleaned it of any bacteria but eventually got used to the pain.             There legs and arms began to ache and it felt as if the air was beating them down underwater. The wolves dared not to follow since the heaviness of the water in their coats was already weighing them down in the shallows.  Naomi was exhausted and she couldn’t hold on anymore she yelped and then fell under water as the lake began to consume her. A flash of silver and pink quickly approached her and soon enough a group of hands clutched her and brought her to the surface. Naomi gasped in the air and gurgled out “Mermaids!” Three heads popped out of the water as they took Naomi to Sam who had already been helped to a small island. “That’s star and her friends” explained Sam after a while as Naomi stood mouth open gazing at their beautiful tails, her necklace shined and dangled from around her neck, she tucked it into her shirt. “Thank you!” Naomi yelped for joy “You saved my life”    

   “It was no problem!” a gentle silvery voice said. “I assume this is the chosen one Sam?” Said one of the mermaids with long blonde hair and sparkling eyes.  “It is indeed star! And I was wondering if you could help us? Buff said there was a clue here to finding the key” exclaimed Sam.   “Oh there sure is, but it’s going to be tricky to find. It’s guarded by the kraken. Only the chosen one can get past him, alone.” The mermaid sighed.  She looked at Naomi “What a gorgeous girl, I dare say she does look like quite a warrior, let’s just hope she can find what all of us have lost.” She reached out to Naomi and gently touched her forehead. A mass of sparkles surrounded her. And Naomi’s legs transformed to a tail. Naomi gasped in amazement as she slipped back into the lake being able to breathe and swim gracefully through the water. “And the same for you Sam” The mermaid did the same with Sam and he slipped into the water with his graceful tail and underwater gifts. “I must take you to my father, he can explain what you should do and how to get past the kraken.” The gorgeous mermaid dived under water and her friends followed. Sam nodded to Naomi and they both followed them deep into the water.  The pitch blackness was quickly gone as bright coloured coral and fish filled the water. And as they swum further Naomi could see a huge underwater gold castle. And hurried excitedly after the mermaids.  “That’s the palace, the king and princess live there. We mustn’t disturb them.  They are having an important meeting with the sharks after one of them went and bit of another humans limbs.” Spoke the gentle slivery mermaids voice, Naomi’s eyes widened she didn’t know whether to be scared of the sharks or laugh at how they were getting in trouble with an underwater king!  A muffled giggle came out of Naomi’s mouth. Star, the mermaid indicated them down into a huge coral reef, there were sea urchins of all types and sting rays and multi coloured fish darted here and there.  Small doors stood closed at rock piles, Star swum over to one of them and knocked.   “This is where I live” Smiled Star, in a few short seconds the door was opened and a friendly face met them all. “Ah! Star you’ve brought some friends! Oh my, is that Sam? Come in, come in tell me the news.” A merman who looked alike to star directed the friends inside to a small living room. They all sat down on large clam shells that were actually surprisingly comfortable. The walls of the house were a soft pink and the floor was a gentle yellow sand that was brushed neatly into wave shapes. “Hey Dad, Sam has brought himself and the chosen one to us. They need to know how to get past the Kraken.” Star alerted the merman who sat curiously. “Okay thank you star. I am Toby, also known as Star’s father. I would like to wish you much luck on your journey. First of all getting past the Kraken is fairly simple however can only be done by the chosen one. Which is you I believe?” Toby pointed at Naomi, Naomi nodded and Toby continued “To get past the Kraken the chosen one must show it one of her greatest hobbies and skills, only then will the Kraken let the true chosen one pass.” He spoke seriously but not stern. “What is your greatest skill and hobby?” Questioned Toby.                                                                                       “Probably my music, I play the harp.” Responded Naomi.                                                                                                                                                               “Ah yes that sounds about right, luckily we have underwater harps. I think I have one back here somewhere.” Toby trailed off as he swum off into another room, a few minutes later he swum back out carrying a pure gold harp. “Wow, that’s beautiful!” Gasped Naomi                                                                                              “Aye it is” Agreed Toby. “Now star take your two friends to the Kraken, let’s see if the chosen one can get the next clue.” Toby spoke                                                                                                                                                           “Okay, Come on guys.” Star opened the door, Naomi picked up the harp gently and followed the mermaids and Sam out the door.   The mermaids chatted about how life underwater was as they all swum through the gorgeous waters.  “We are approaching the deep now. We cannot go any further than these rocks. It’s up to you now Naomi. We will wait here for you to return. Good luck!” Star spoke as she and the others halted at a rock face which overhung a wild drop into darkness. Naomi Gulped in fear and then nodded, she had to be brave.  Naomi swum off into the darkness clutching the harp tightly, she had no idea where she was going but continued to swim on.  It felt as if she had been swimming forever when she came to a halt.    A humongous tentacle wrapped around a rock which rose high into the water. “He-hello?” Spoke Naomi still trembling.   The tentacle moved and the largest Kraken anyone could have ever seen emerged from behind the rocks. “WHO DARE AWAKEN THE KRAKEN” The loud voice boomed through the water knocking Naomi back a little bit. “I’m the chosen one! I am here to show you my skills!” Shouted Naomi so it could hear her. “VERY WELL, show me” The agitated voice calmed as the purple beak and grey scales came to a rest to watch Naomi. She gulped and then swum down to the sand where she set up her harp.  She took in a deep breath and then elegantly strummed the strings, a gentle melody sounded out of the instrument it was soft and sounded as If many fairies where dancing through the water.  The kraken swayed at the melody, and nodded his head.  When Naomi had finished playing her instrument the kraken wrapped his tentacle around a brass chest and placed in in front of her.  “You really are the chosen one, but the last test is your powers.  Raise your hand above the golden lock on the chest concentrate and if it desires you it will open and you will receive your clue.” The kraken spoke calmly. Naomi raised her hand to the lock and focused her gaze on it.  Her heart pond, what did he mean by magic? She thought of the unicorn and her mum, she thought of the clue.  To her surprise her hand began to glow and the lock glowed too, it slowly opened and the chest flung open with a mighty gust.  “Well done, now take your clue and good luck on your journey.” The kraken spoke as he returned to his resting place. Naomi gasped and stared into the chest, it seemed empty at first but she noticed a bottle sealed with a note inside.  She grabbed it and turned swimming back to the others. She arrived back at the others and was met with warm happy smiles as she held up the bottle. “I got the clue! I’ll need to open it on land but I defiantly have it!”  The others nodded and they turned to face the surface. “Come on then” Smiled Star as they all started swimming up and up to the surface.  The sun gloomed through the water and eventually their heads popped above the surface.  Almost as instantly as Naomi and Sam breathed in the oxygen of land, their tails vanished and were returned with their legs. The mermaids gently guided them to the land.  “Well, this is where we part.  Good luck on your journey.” Nodded Star as she and her friends vanished once again into the depths of the lagoon. “Don’t just stand there! Open the bottle” Sam spoke as he peered over Naomi’s shoulder and at the glass bottle. “Okay, Okay” Naomi unscrewed the lid of the bottle and gently shook the bottle as a fine parchment fell out.  Glitter floated everywhere as she carefully unfolded it…  

   Naomi creased the wrinkles in the paper and then began to read. “You have completed not only task 1 but task 2 as you have escaped the mighty jaws of vicious wolves and also calmed the kraken with song. If you shall want to continue look beneath the trees look inside the hollows. For fairies are what you seek yet not the awful trolls who lurk beneath the bridge.”  She heaved the last few words out and looked at the many trees which loomed above them.  “Come on, where going on a search for fairies it so seems.”  She walked into the forest and Sam nodded and followed.  They peered beneath the trees and stared into the hollows.  Still no sight of fairies as the sun began to set.  “The sun is setting we should probably get some sleep.” Naomi spoke as she stood up from looking under a large oak. “I’m starvingggg” Sam had been complaining about his hunger for a few hours now.    “Then find something to eat!” Moaned Naomi as she leaned and looked at a pile of rocks which had a cave within them. “We can sleep here tonight I suppose, I’ll make a fire, and you get something to eat.” Naomi said sternly as she noticed Sam had been starring at her.                                                                                                                   “Alright.” Sam spoke as he walked off in search for some forest berries or mushrooms.  Meanwhile Naomi searched for dry sticks and rocks, she placed them inside the hollow rock cave and used a stick and rock to light a fire.  She had learnt how from a boot camp when she was younger. After a while Sam returned with a branch full of Blackberries and a variety mushrooms that he had managed to find, he placed them on the cave floor for Naomi to see.  “I better sort through those, we don’t want to be poisoned from anything poisonous now do we?” Naomi had been sitting by the fire and so stood up and picked up the mushrooms.  She tossed a few outside which were poisonous and kept a few of the small button mushrooms and the black berries were fine.  “How do you know what’s safe or not?” questioned Sam.                                                                                                                                                    Naomi stood silent for while then spoke “My mum taught me about poisonous and non-poisonous forest foods before she died.” Sam nodded as he was unsure how to respond.  “Well, peel your mushrooms and dig in” Mumbled Naomi as she started peeling a selection of the mushrooms.  Sam was unsure how but figured it out after watching her.  After the two had eaten all the berries and mushrooms Naomi found a place in the cave where she would sleep.  And Sam found himself a spot too “Good night Naomi.” Sam spoke quietly as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.  Naomi stared at the wall of rocks for a while her mind racing with what had happened today.  What would her father think, she didn’t want to worry him.  She held her necklace close and after a while she fell asleep.    

 Sam and Naomi slept peacefully as the crickets and forest sounds filled the air, and the crackle of fire warmed them as they slept.  But somewhere in the woods lurked a group of little creatures, and the smell of smoke had filled their lungs.  They were on their way to find where the fire was coming from.  The snapping of twigs and branches echoed through the forest and as the creatures approached the forest silenced almost to hide from the mysterious creatures. A trudging of feet stopped behind a large oak tree in front of the rock cave. A mumble of scratchy voices echoed through the trees.  Sam awoke and sat up straight, he looked around as he swore he heard something.  The mumble stopped and Sam spied several sets of glowing eyes behind the great oak tree. “Naomi… Naomi wake up” whispered Sam, Naomi swiftly arose from her sleep and stared out at where Sam was peering at the many eyes. “Sam… what are those…” Gasped out Naomi still sleepy, Sam shook his head in confusion and backed up as the glowing eyes started to move into the moon light. First small green feet with sharp rigid toe nails were seen, then a small torso and with small cardigans and then the head... It was green and furry with pointy ears and crooked teeth.  There in front of Sam and Naomi was at least six small devilish trolls.  “How dare you light a fire in the mysterious wood of pixies” Yelled the biggest of the trolls he had a loud squeaky voice.                                                         “Pixies??? Like… fairies?!! I swear we didn’t mean any harm!” Naomi spoke swiftly as she put out the fire and stood up straight. “What brings you here?”  Yelled another of the trolls.                                                                             “Look trolls, we don’t want any harm.  This girl right here is the chosen one!” Sam protested                                             “Hm, well I guess we will take you to the fairies but with one small price...” the biggest of the trolls spoke.  He stared around the cave for any valuables, and then spied the shiny necklace around Naomi’s neck. “That necklace, give us that and we will take you to the pixies” Smirked the troll.  Naomi pulled the necklace close to herself, it was the only thing she had left from her mother.  Giving this away would surely leave her mother heart broken.  She knew her mum always looked over her.  She sighed, she knew she had no choice, she was going to have to give up the necklace.  Her mother would always be there for her anyway.  “Fine… take it” Naomi tried to sound brave but her voice cracked a little as she took the necklace off and handed it to the troll. The troll snatched it off her “PFT, you thought we would actually take you there, the pixies and we trolls have been at war for years!” The trolls cackled and ran off into the forest.  Naomi dropped onto her knees and shed a few tears, Sam rushed over and put his arms around her, “It… it was just a necklace we can make another.” Sam spoke gently                                                                                                “You don’t understand!  That necklace was the last gift I got from my mother before she…” Naomi went silent and then stared into the woods.  “There’s no time to loose, we need to find the pixies.’’ Sam nodded his head in a silent reply. Naomi walked off into the woods, and Sam followed carefully. The woods was beautiful at this time of night. Moonlight creeped through the trees, and the gentle fog clung to their feet as they moved on through the woods.  The gentle chirping of crickets and the crackles of leaves and branches echoed through the air.  As the two moved deeper into the woods little fungi could be seen growing on the wood of the old great oaks.  As it was past the small fungi lit up in all colours you could imagine.  Taken a back Naomi and Sam gasped at the stunning sight.  “It’s wonderful, all bright and beautiful. I feel as if a thousand tinny stars are dancing among the trees!”                                        “It is beautiful isn’t it? Just like…” Sam paused and mumbled off something that was lost in the woods. “Like what?” Namoi questioned as she searched gently in some ferns.                                                                                 “Like you.” Mumbled Sam looking at the ground as he continued to help search. Naomi giggled a little bit and smiled, she didn’t even realize it herself. After about ten minutes of searching a faint light could be seen at the entrance of a massive oak tree. “Sam, come here!” Naomi spoke as she bent down to see two tiny windows and a small door at the base of the oak.  Little light crept out from each window.  Sam hurried over and they both stares curiously at the door.  Naomi gently used her finger to knock on the door.  A few seconds later a creak was heard and the little door opened.  There standing in the entrance of the little door was a small petit pixie. His ears poked out and a little acorn hat sat upon his luscious blonde curls.  The pixie looked up at what seemed giants to him and shut the door quickly.   A mass of murmurs echoed from the oak and the door opened again.  This time about five pixies flew out of the door and at eye level with Naomi and sam. “What are you giants doing here??” A small pitchy voice spoke. “I am Naomi, I’m the chosen one and I’m here to help find what was lost.”  The pixies muttered together.  “Well Naomi if this is true you should have the golden emulate in which was given to your mother as a gift from the fairies.” A small pixie with long brown hair spoke. Naomi shuddered. “That was from you guys to my mother??? The trolls took it…” The pixies gasped and one flew back into the tree. A moment later two pixies in which looked like royalty appeared.  They carried a crown on their heads.  “If this is true we must reclaim the Emulate as soon as possible.” Spoke one of them, the other agreed and looked at Naomi and Sam in the eye. A wand was waved and suddenly Naomi felt herself plummeting fast to the ground, soft wings that seemed like crystals sown together sprouted from her back and she found herself at height with the pixies. “I am the queen of the fairies, that emulate is very important. It must be reclaimed soon. In the hands of the trolls who knows what may happen.” Spoke the elegant royalty.  “Follow us. While we distract the trolls grab the emulate and meet back here. They can’t get into this part of the woods.”  Naomi slowly nodded, it was a lot to take in.  Why had they given her mum an emulate, her mother had met the fairies too?? The fairies burst in to flight and fluttered off into the dark. Naomi and Sam stood on the forest floor.  Unable to know how to fly up with them.  The boy pixie that had first opened the door stood next to them. “Believe in yourself and you will fly” Spoke the boy as he fluttered after them into the dark.  Naomi and Sam nodded, Sam’s wings begun to flutter and he rose into the air he quickly hurried after the pixies. Naomi had a thousand thoughts racing through her mind.  She sighed and took a deep breath, she thought about how it was up to her to free whatever was hidden she had to do this.  Her wings fluttered and she burst into the air, she got the hang of it quickly and then zoomed off after the fairies.  The light of each pixies wings lit up the forest, as they raced through the broken branches and trees. The fairies came to a halt as the Queen pointed at a gap in the trees. About ten trolls stood in a clearing staring at the moon as the largest troll boomed some words.  The queen nodded and the pixies raced out confusing the trolls as they flew around the trolls. The gold emulate hung from the neck of the largest troll. Naomi pointed at it and Sam and Naomi rushed into the clearing at the large scary troll.
