The picture is just slightly noisy/under-exposed obviously due to the fact that ISO is at 100 and we had to show the differences between the 100/800/3200 ISO. I changed the shutter speed from ISO 800 and ISO 3200, to make the picture less grainy/noisy.

That's what I tried to emulate here with this portrait. This background (studio at Vanier) could've used more lighting. It looks a bit dark. Other than that I think the picture is correctly exposed and we can feel the subject's emotions.

f/14 - 1/320 - ISO 200
NIKON D3100
I liked the inspiration picture because of the red jacket and how it contrasted the color of snow. It popped out and caught the attention of my eyes. Furthermore, I decided to go back to the place where I took my landscape photo from the homework (week 1). It was an ice rink, however due to the snow storm, the rink was covered. I like the fact that we can see the sign "patinoire privee". It gives the audience more things to see/analyze. Picture is perfectly exposed. The only gripe I would have about this image is that the trees are a bit "noisy". I could've tilted the camera more towards the sky. I tried that, but the rule of thirds wasn't the best, because I wanted the sign to be in picture. I would rather prefer my image respect the rule of thirds, then it not, so I decided to go with this one, instead of the one in the pratice shot section.

For the creating process of my second photo, I took the latter in my bedroom. I have a neutral-colored wall in my bedroom that I thought was perfect in order for me to achieve the same background as the original picture. The subject of the photo is my dad. He’s wearing a button-up shirt and a tie just like the subject in the original portrait. I wanted him to have the same body language as the original picture and I think he did a good job. For the composition, I tried to frame my subject the same way Annie framed her subject. Furthermore, I used window lighting and tried to recreate the split lighting from the original picture, but those pictures weren’t well exposed so I decided to choose the one that didn't necessarily have the same lighting as the original portrait but rather the one that was perfectly exposed. For the camera settings, I used an ISO of 400, a shutter speed of 1/60, and a f/stop of 5.6.

I took this photo in the studio since the original one was clearly shot in one. The subject is my friend. I decided to use most of the lighting in the studio and most importantly, I used the ring light and put it near my subject's face, in order to recreate the original picture (the light in his eyes). I shot it vertically and I was quite zoomed in, in order to recreate the little headspace of the original portrait. I also wanted my subject to have nearly the same color of clothing as the original picture since I believed that it complimented the color of the background well. For the composition, I centered my subject just like the original photo. I used an ISO of 800, a shutter speed of 1/60, and a f/stop of 5.6.

The comparison between day and night. How in the morning, life can be overwhelming and uneasy (because of work or school), whereas, at night, it's calmer. We can see this with the top/bottom picture where at the top, the image is quite unsettling, the blurred moving cars create a sort of uneasy feel to the images, whereas at the bottom, we can see that there are no cars, which makes the image feel much easier to see and more calming to look at. Furthermore, I used the red light/lamp post to portray the story, to accumulate the differences between day and night.

The inspiration photo is also a reason why I put these two images together.

-The story I wanted to tell with these images is the many facets of christianism. I wanted to tell a story of the different meaning of the cross and how it is the symbol of chrisitanism. How much this symbol represents the people of this religion.

It was also to compensate the low shutter speed and low f stop of said picture. The SS is 1/60 because I was hand holding the camera, and the fstop was low because I wanted the background to be blurry.

-The image is perfectly exposed, natural light and the use of light was good and the composition was perfect since I wanted my dog to be centered and zoomed in to see every single detail of it.

I took these two images in the span of 5 min. That's why the settings are the same.
