The euzones, which until that moment had been standing still guarding the monument, begin an impressive stride with stretching of their limbs which is an extraordinary sight. The same pace is followed by the euzons who are going to replace them. When the performance, which lasts about 15 minutes, is over, the young lieutenants stand still to guard the monument, while their weary colleagues trudge back to their barracks to rest.

The policeman is a character who takes care of order and security, and usually anyone who disturbs the bride or the old man (or old woman) is responsible for issuing fines. There is the character of the doctor who is responsible for the physical and mental health of the participants and can carry out tests. Everything is done in an atmosphere of joy and teasing and all the participants have fun and exorcise evil.

The tradition of smashing a pomegranate on New Year's Day dates back to ancient times and originates in the Peloponnese or Serres.

In modern times, when the family returns home from church on New Year's Day, a person of the household smashes the pomegranate on the front door.

We went on a trip to Medvednica mountain near Zagreb. We visited the Zrinski mine, which was opened in the 16th century. It was owned by the same noble family that owned our town of Vrbovec and the surrounding villages. Because of its value, the mine was declared a protected cultural asset of the Republic of Croatia in 2006.

We participated in educational games where we demonstrated our knowledge of navigating nature, determined the sides of the world and played games.

 We claimed up to the medieval Medvedgrad castle, which has been watching our Zagreb for 800 years. In its history, it changed numerous masters who gained or lost it in various marriage combinations, sales, intrigues or even conspiracies. Numerous Croatian fairy tales and legends are associated with Medvedgrad.

The Olympic flame is a symbol used in the Olympic movement. It is also a symbol of continuity between ancient and modern games. The Olympic flame is lit at Olympia, Greece, several months before the Olympic Games.
