Pain, agony, and delirium give me an underlying feeling of dread. An immense amount of pain is agony and can eventually push your mind over the edge into a delirious state. Author's use words like these to make the reader be able to feel the physical or emotional pain that their character is going through. Additionally, seclusion, nothingness, and lost make me feel very uneasy. For some reason I can deeply relate to the feeling that stems from them. My gut drops and I feel sick if I ever think too deeply about being alone for a long period of time. Death, shadows, and chillness make me picture just darkness. My mind immediately imagines a place where no one can ever be happy, a place where the life is sucked out of every human being who travels there. Finally, I chose the word shame because I feel like this is the most important word to create style in anti-transcendentalist writing. The word itself seems to whisper every thing you have ever done in your life that is regretted.
