The color of the fire didn't quite change when we stuck the popsicle stick that was soaked with lead into the fire. The color of the fire stayed an orangey-yellow color as you can see below.

The identity of our unknown element was letter A, which lead to the element Na+ (sodium). The color of the unknown exhibit that led to our conclusion was a bright orangey color. When we stuck the popsicle stick that was soaked with the mysterious element (sodium), it lit the whole room up and it was very hot. The only way we knew that it was sodium was because of how bright the fire was.

In this activity, we developed critical thinking and effective communicating skills. To begin with, we synthesized the information given to us and made observations during the experiment. After processing all the information we needed, we organized and presented it to Padlet. Technology lets us share our knowledge to other educational learners. This group project portrays teamwork. It allows us to work together and try to communicate with each other. We evenly distributed the work throughout the group. Additionally, we made informed choices by putting on our goggles and tying our hair back to prevent accidents during our experiment. All in all, critical thinking and effective communicating skills stood out the most during our experiment.

Mystery Element A

When we stuck the mystery element into the

fire, the fire bursted a bright orange color! The

color was an orange color, but what mattered

was the brightness. We found out that this

mystery chemical was sodium! We knew this

because of the brightness of the fire.
