Foreshadowing:

"‘What makes you look so white, so white?’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘I’m dreading what I’ve got to watch,’ the Colour-Sergeant said.”
This is foredshadowing that the Colour-Sergeant & Files-on-Parade are going to witness something terrible, which in this case is, the hanging of Danny Deever.

Imagery:

"They ‘ave ‘alted Danny Deever by ‘is coffin on the ground;”
"‘What makes the rear-rank breathe so ‘ard?’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘It’s bitter cold, it’s bitter cold,’ the Colour-Sergeant said.”
These two quotes help us put an image as to what is currently happening in the poem. We can imagine Deever being halted near a coffin just for him, & we can imagine the rear-ranks breathing hard & the visibility of their breath due to it being “bitter cold” outside.

Repetition:

"O they’re hangin’ Danny Deever in the mornin’!’”
"While they’re hangin’ Danny Deever in the mornin’.”
The repetition of the Colour-Sergeant saying that they’re hanging Deever in the morning puts emphasis on the event that is to come.

Euphemism:

"‘What’s that so black agin the sun?’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘It’s Danny Deever fightin’ ‘ard for life,’ the Colour-Sergeant said. ‘What’s that that whimpers over’ead?’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘It’s Danny’s soul that’s passin’ now,’ the Colour-Sergeant said.”
The use of euphemism allows us to picture this graphic event of the hanging of Deever in a mild way which allows it to be a moderate form of imagery for readers instead of something too graphic and scarring.
