I found the MOOC, Sit Less, Get Active by the University of Edinburgh using the link http://www.mooc-list.com/. This has actually been an interest of mine since my job changed during COVID. I found that I was sitting so much more than usual. My goal this year is to be more active and to sit less. I am hopeful this MOOC will help with actualizing my goal.

My experience with this course so far is positive. The videos are informative, and the quizzes help to see if I grasped the full understanding of the content. There are multiple additional reading resources that are optional. I am earning 100% on all the quizzes as of now. There is a video lesson that incorporates the content of the section I am working on. Once I have watched the video(s) and read the resources, I take the quiz. The quiz is usually about 5-10 questions that includes multiple choice and written in answers. I have to sign that the quiz was taken by myself, and I didn't get help from others when I conclude the quiz. Once submitted, the results are immediate and onto the next lesson we go.

Reflection

As I reflect on this experience, I see how this type of web-based learning can greatly improve the student's ITC literacy. The platform provided various learning resources, including video lectures, videos that pertain to the subject in the real-world application, reading materials, and interactive quizzes. If I apply this to my classroom, students can choose which MOOC that interests them. They can learn at their own pace, all online. Having the teacher do this in class with the students would show them that we all are lifelong learners. It was fun for me to learn the data on this topic and I was able to show the videos to my daughter. She quickly learned how to navigate the site and wanted to participate with me. She exercises more than 60 minutes per day, which is the suggested time for children. She loved learning this subject this way. It actually encouraged her to exercise more. We created a schedule for the summer that now includes daily gym time and outdoor exercise time. She has been very encouraging/persuasive in getting me up early in the morning to hit the gym for 30 minutes to get my minutes in.
