How to play: 2 people are given a scenario to get their improvisation started, while the rest are on mute. Then someone can unmute themselves and say “FREEZE” and names the person they want to replace. A new improv starts with this new pair, the idea should come from something that was just mentioned, but the characters are new.
Example: 
A - “Thank you for coming to our interview today, we’re very pleased to meet you.”
B - “And you! I’ve always wanted to work at a secondary school.”
“FREEZE A”
C - “Now today on online school we are looking at...”

-All other zoom call members tries to call out if the person has broken one of the above rules, when a call out is made the timer is paused, then continued regardless of whether or not the call out was right. (Must speak for the whole 1 minute)
-Points are gained for correctly calling out any of the above and lost for incorrectly doing so
-Winner is determined by who has the most points after everyone has had a go trying to speak for the 1 minute.

We opted for scene 11b: (A) with the 3 drunk friends on the train.

We decided to set it as in a tube with all characters sat side by side on the same plane. That requires a universal background in order to give a sense of us being in the same place so we went for a "white" background.
Problem 2: Going out of frame. As we are filming side by side and stitching the clips together, if you go out of frame you will be cut out of the video and that will break the sense of reality. This is clearly demonstrated as a problem in our first run.
Problem 3: Depth. Due to us filming from different locations, the distance we are from the camera will be different from one another. We quickly established our rough framing by sending a still image to one another as a guide for how far we should be from the camera. We decided on torso and up. Despite this we still ran into problems in our first attempt at running the scene slightly correcting them in the second attempt through editing and making the adjustments required while filming.
Problem 4: Audio. Clearly demonstrated here that volumes and audio quality has a lot of variance between raw files. Universal background: Couldn't do much more than what we had initially. After doing some research I have found out we can adjust the "luminance key" to fix the shading a little in the editing otherwise we could use green screens but that's a cost which we may not be able to bear.
Going out of frame: From an evaluative point of view this is something we chose to keep in the second video as a clear side by side if you don't address the issue. As you can see it makes the scene quite disconnected but something we can fix fairly easy with communication as you can see on the other side of the frame.
Depth: Sending the initial pictures really helped give us a good starting point as to where we need to be in relation to the camera. In this version only minor editing was needed to try match up the character profiles.
Audio: In this version the audio is corrected so everyone can be heard to some realistic degree as it may be on a train. Moving forwards, if we wanted to get technical we could insert a train noise backing track to elevate the illusion of being on the tube.]]> 2020-05-04 14:40:47 UTC https://padlet.com/cmeads73/tx/wish/549503489 eh19472 https://padlet.com/cmeads73/tx/wish/549720758 We worked on creating an over the shoulder style shot using a hoodie on a tripod which worked as well as I’d hoped. I see this angle being most effective when used sparingly and not for the entirety of a scene as we have done.

We also had to work on merging the background noise to create the illusion that we were in the same place. I firstly put the background from Ethans video over mine because I thought that the sound of cars was a lot more ‘London’ than the birds in my garden. I then sprinkled in some of the bird sounds from my garden over the top of the road noise and when Ethan was talking just to blend it more.  It's all about trial and error. Trying and improving!

So one of the main challenges we've come across is during filming itself. Either having camera malfunctions,  line mess ups,  surprise camoe appareances or just all together questioning your life choices.

It's been fun, challenging and insteresting figure this all together. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I am now looking into internships and short courses within the tv and film industry. The most valuable lesson that I learned through this process has been that if you persevere, you can accomplish pretty much anything. It was mainly the animation that taught me this as I initially wrote off the idea because it seemed so far out of my reach but I later decided to come back to it and taught myself all the skills I needed and eventually created a piece of animation that I am proud of. Overall, this experience has been invaluable.

Being able to utilize one another's strengths not only reduces my own stress and workload but makes for a better final product.
A skill I developed: I can now use Adobe Premiere Pro with some degree of skill, and will continue to learn, use  and develop them in the future.
I can't point to any single moment in the project which I hold dear as an experience, rather the entire project was in and of itself is a really valuable memory I shall keep close.
I loved working with my team and seeing everyone's work at the end. The work and talent which Chris has managed to cultivate over the last 6 weeks over Zoom calls is really phenomenal. 

Lastly I'd like to give a quick thanks to our director Chris Meads, for this quite frankly insane project he's managed to pull off. The energy you brought to our meetings has not gone unmissed and made for a fantastic work environment. At the begining I didn't know anything; about filming, editing, uploading, anything! Now I am able to write and film my own creations, edit videos and know how to upload them to youtube, which will all be useful to me to use in other aspects of my life too.

One of my favourite things about this experience was when I was making my mini character films, mainly in 'Behind Closed Doors', but in the 'Day in the Life of Naomie' film too.  
I am now able to take my ideas from my mind and make them in to real pieces of work and actually see it in-front of me. Getting my ideas out has also been a real struggle for me and this showed be I can do it and I can make some beautiful pieces of work. Directing and film -making is something I have been interested in before and this has made me think about it a little more seriously.

The whole 6 weeks  will be something I'll remember and cherish. I've learnt so much.
Chris taught me so much that I will take on and 100% use in the future, always making you think about the smallest of details. With such an emphasis on imagination and creativity, it has made me even more passionate about the arts and the power it has, even in such a strange time. 
At the beginning of the process I was convinced my only skill was making a Spotify playlist. However, I’m now confident in filming, writing, editing and just in general trusting my artistic choices.
My favourite memory - as I know Chris also loved - was my pure shock of a 5 minute “scramble” exercise. I’ve now learnt that trusting my instincts and following my curiosity can be more than enough.

It’s been an incredibly educational journey.
The time spent on this project has definitely given me a lot more confidence with various editing software which is something I absolutely intend to take further. 
I’ve had the chance to work with some incredible people with creativity beyond measure. I’m proud to be part of Perspective and apart of the larger group of brilliant inspiration people. I hope you carry that forward.
