Engagement and Collaboration are so important when working with Adult Learners. Adult Learners are just like our younger students because most of them love hands-on learning and group work. Collaboration is always important in everything that we do. We can always learn more from one another.

Adult learners are more resistant to change. They tend to need to know the "why" behind what they are learning and how it will benefit them.

Building Trusting Relationships is Key!

The adult learner must feel he/she is able to trust you in order to overcome barriers that lead to resistance. There needs to be a perceived sense of true partnership. In my opinion, though adult learners are different in their own right, there are many similarities to the child learner. The common denominator is they are both learners.
