In 2021, during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, our group consisted mainly of 4th- 5th year medical students in Universitas Indonesia, published a policy brief based on our nationwide research. The research currently stands as the biggest research involving medical students in Indonesia with almost 5,000 respondents, discussing about willingness, knowledge, attitude, and practice of medical students to volunteer during the pandemic.

We disseminated the policy brief to relevant policymakers (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health) and the public (mass media) via webinar and advocacies. The government adopted of our recommendations into nationwide policy in only 2 weeks to appropriately involve medical students (and general youth) in vaccination and various measures in handling the pandemic, including paying attention to protection and level of readiness issues.
