We ensure your practice placements are suitable for all learners, offering high quality audited practice placement areas and provide a high standard of practice supervisor and assessor training with 2 yearly updates.

We work closely with Higher Education institutions to ensure our practice placements meet the requirements of your programmes.

We offer insight visits across the trust to enhance your knowledge and learning opportunities.

Please ensure you contact placement area at least two weeks in advance to arrange your placement details.

The Practice Learning team would like to invite you to our LESP sessions. Sessions are held monthly throughout the year and include clinical skills, specialist roles and knowledge that can help with your proficiencies. You can only attend if you are on placement at SFHFT during the dates the session is offered.

Some sessions are tailored to specific year groups, for example: introduction to Nervecentre for all students, care of IVI and Blood Transfusion for second years and for third year students’ preparation for qualification and job application.

Our sessions are bookable with some topics having limited spaces.

Venepuncture and Cannulation sessions are available for second year (NTU, UOL & SHU) and third year (UOD and UON) students.

Please book early once you know you will be on placement with us.

Mansfield Community – you have the staff room on the ground floor, the

Pilgrim Centre is also available as well, as well as the coffee shop at

reception.

Newark – A cosy little rest area near the dining room, the two coffee shops, and the courtyard with the signs of spring coming may offer some nice sunshine and rest. You can also find the chapel a restful, calming space for reflection and pause.

King's Mill – The Faith Centre is on the ground floor with the indoor space

and small garden, the library on level 1, and the new wellbeing spaces at

the front of the hospital. You can get to these via the main entrance – head

to the left of reception and through the double doors marked staff only and

keep going! There are three – weeping willows, peaceful pines and mighty

oaks. Here are some up-to-date photos of the space.

That could be something which doesn’t feel right, for example a way of working or a process which isn’t being followed, or behaviours of others which you feel is having an impact on the well-being of you, the people you work with, or patients.

Patient Safety can be directly or indirectly affected by all these things and the Freedom To Speak Up (FTSU) process gives you an alternative, confidential and impartial route to share concerns if you are unable to share these concerns within your leadership team.  It may be that you have shared these concerns previously but have had no response or you feel the response you received is inadequate.  The Freedom To Speak up process can also be used for this.

Speaking up is about all of these things.
