It is caused by a gram positive cocci in chains called Streptococcus Pyogenes. Symptoms include, but are not limited to; fever, chills, headache, and body aches. Strep throat affects people of all ages and has no vaccine. The bacteria is treated with antibiotics and the other symptoms are treated with otc medications, such as tylenol and ibuprofen for the common fever and pain associated with the disease.
