I chose a triad scheme of bright, pastel, colours to represent happiness. Working from the colour emotion guide, I chose colours that represented happiness and playfulness and hence chose yellow as the primary colour as it represents optimism and warmth. Pink and purple are used not only because they are common ice cream colours but also because they represent creativity and
imagination which stands out to children who would be one of the target audiences. Orange is also included as it represents friendliness and cheerfulness, further communicating the message of 'happiness'. Overall, I opted for soft, creamy colours to represent ice cream.

The word "happy" is glowing to emphasise happiness and excitement, and I chose soft, round, 'bubbly' fonts to represent playfulness. 'Happy' is larger to emphasise the key message, and is yellow to represent optimism and warmth. I initially placed 'Ice Cream Co.' on the outer part of the curve, however I felt there was too much white space left below 'happy' on the inside of the curve. I also think placing the smaller text inside the curve keeps the logo neat and compact.

The large curved line that sweeps underneath represents both a smiling mouth and an ice cream bowl. I was hoping to make the tail of the 'y' in 'happy' to be the curve, but I couldn't work out how to do so on Canva.

I chose to balance the bright logo at top right corner with the large balloon on the bottom left corner, and chose asymmetry to offer more variety and excitement to the viewer so the eye is compelled to roam over both halves of the poster to examine the differences.

The repetition of yellow (happy colour) in the logo, the slogan and the balloon allows the eye to follow the rhythm across the poster, controlling the viewers attention.

Whilst it's an ice cream company, I wanted the focus of the poster to be happiness, hence I used a picture of a smiling woman. However, by making the logo the brightest aspect, this immediately tells the viewer that it's for an ice cream company.

The typography used is all lower case for easy reading, with key messages about happiness emphasised through bold lettering, brighter colours and larger fonts.
