This resource made me think of what escalated the war in an entirely new way as the resource mentioned the soviet’s contribution to the war, which offered a different perspective as the previous sources we analysed talked about mainly us and vietnam, so it made me realise that the soviets had directly influenced the war.

This resource made me think of the de-escalation of the war in a whole new way, as it highlighted that the US was one of the main reasons that the war de-escalated, as the leaking of Pentagon papers and the Tet offensive both showed that the US helped de-escalated public opinion of the war in the US. Thus, by changing public opinion into a more anti-war stance, it helped de-escalate the war.

This resource gave me a clearer understanding of the Tet offensive, as well as the general timeline of majors events that were a part of the war. The answers could have been more explained as they gave us answers without any further explanation.

i used to think that the escalation of the war war mainly due to US involvement but now i think the soviets had played a large part as well since Nikita Khrushchev had shifted their focus from europe to asia and sent 450 millions dollars of annual arms shipment.

This resource confirmed my understanding that the Cold War superpowers escalated the Second Indochina War as the resource highlighted that the cold war superpowers actively supported both the North and South vietnam mainly through military aid to put up a better fight, hence fuelling the escalation of the war. The escalation of the war was also motivated by Cold war concerns as both cold war superpowers wanted to use vietnam to expand their ideology and reign.

This learning resource has gave me more knowledge on the superpowers decisions as well as actions made which could have escalated the Second Indochina war. The incidents were insightful from the different perspectives like the US, USSR, Vietnam as well as military conflicts, perspectives such as the US making their citizens believe that its military boats attacked on the 2 days so as just justify their actions of this ampliflying event to retaliate against North Vietnam

This learning resource has reestablished my knowledge on the differnet actors and events that led to the deescalation and then the eventual end of the Vietnam war. The many small events like the operation rolling thunder and the massacre has gave me consideration as to why that would lead to the second indochina war by showing us that US bombing of the supply to Vietnam would shake their ego and change the tide of the war and although it did not affect the war, it amplified it to further escalate the war. Likewise, for the massacre, it was helpful in showing the south vietnamese that it changed thte public opinions of the americans injustice for killing innocent people as well as undermining their support for the US in the war
