Throughout the project, my idea changed and it became the idea that stained glass windows remind me of church and calm feelings. I wanted my set of dinnerware to be a calming piece. I wanted to also express the free flow of nature and how organic the shapes are (especially with the branches). In the beginning of the project, I used sharpie to roughly outline where the leaves and branches were going to be. At first, the painting did not go well because I didn't understand that it needed multiple layers to achieve the color that I wanted. Towards the end of the project, my work became more neat and the painting looked more like solid colors because I put multiple layers down. Throughout the project working time, I mostly thought that I was doing a good job at progressing in the project. I was on time with the work days and I was always at hard work to get the majority of one side done per class period. I was very impressed with what I was achieving with paint considering it was my first major scale project with it. The top of the plate was hard because it took me the longest and the top of the bowl was harder because it took a lot of detail. I am very happy with the finished project. I had used paint before, but never as much as I did with this project. It was a challenge to go outside of my comfort zone. I am usually swayed more towards drawing, but I wanted to do something different this time because I knew that I could not achieve the desired affect that I wanted with just pencils. I originally was going to do just a bowl and a plate, but Mrs. Marsh pushed me to do another piece of dinnerware because she said that sets usually come in odd numbers. I quickly adapted to painting once I got familiar with the brush size I was using and the type of paint.
