    CHARACTER ANALYSIS:

    In The Tempest, there are a lot of powerful supernatural beings along with just powerful people due to their status, and there is a huge difference in how they use them. For example, Prospero is very powerful due to his status on the island, and he does not necessarily use it for the best reasons. This shows us a lot about his character, like he could choose to free Ariel but he uses his power and keeps him as a slave. Moving to Ariel, he is one of the most powerful beings from what we have seen so far in the play. Compared to Prospero he uses his power exactly as he is told. He does have the means to use it for bad, but he is very loyal to Prospero. As we can see they both use their power in different ways, good and bad, and it shows us the true nature of each character.

    I chose this theme with this specific quote because Caliban only knows what Prospero has taught him. He is learning from someone that is somewhat cruel and manipulative, so his perspective is completely skewed. So when Prospero chooses to tell him things or what he teaches him is not something he should maybe normally know or think that way.

    I chose this theme and quote because I think it is what resonates with Act 3 the best. The Harpies are something in Greek mythology that Shakespeare decided to play on where they come in and offer something big like a meal or something great, and the greedy people in power immediately go for it. Then as soon as they are about to go and touch the meal they make it disappear to kind of set them back to reality.
