There's no scaling based on our district, right? It is just a coincidence that BVSD earned 50% growth in all 3 grades?

With a basic standard deviation of 3 and seeing that our growth is of 9 on math and on ELA, this growth is very strong.

Wooo for our Latino kiddos making a significant amount of growth in ELA! We have some wonderful supports (Kelly Biala!). I notice that ELA did really well across the board (so did math) and it just makes me continue to wonder about the need for CommonLit. This wondering will inform my decisions about teaching as I am going to try to keep the things that worked well last year.

I see that our 7th grade math growth scores are lower than others, but what does it historically look like? Is 7th always lower or was it just this year?

-Love the reduced red. That seems about as good as it gets.

-Good growth in demographic categories.

-While 6th grade ELA has good scores and growth overall, they usually have better growth. Not sure what happened. Maybe it's my fault.

- The percentage of students at proficient and exceeds is higher than ever (since 2014).

-Math shows great growth. Must be the new curriculum!

Special Education and Hispanic/Latino growth are exciting! We have some incredible specialists pushing into classrooms to provide specialized and thoughtful supports both in the classroom and during interventions. Classroom teachers are meeting needs of students, too!

I notice that our growth scores for FRL students are above district average, but not as much as I think they should be. This is something that we should focus on/prioritize this school year.

7th grade growth is below 6th and 8th. SPED growth is strong.

Our numbers are consistently better/higher than the district and we are trending to moving past pre-pandemic levels…why does the district keep moving towards a “one size fits all” when we are doing great? We know every school and every classroom is different so why does the district keep treating every school and every classroom as the same? Seems like the opposite of best practice.

As my table mate pointed out - PLEASE, district, don't tell us what we are doing is not working well enough without coming into our classrooms first to SEE the great things we do with kids every day.

We are constantly changing and adapting to the needs of OUR students.

This Data supports that our systems are working, come sit in our room before you tell us to change.

What can we infer about our kids that opted out of CMAS? I know many of our Hispanic kids that opted out struggle academically...so while our scores are awesome; they don't reflect all of our students. Sorry to be a downer. :(

Looking at the less impressive 7th grade growth in Math, it seems like the main difference is that there are less students exceeding expectations in 7th grade compared to 6th grade. Is there a gap in how we're challenging 7th graders who have been exceeding expectations?
