With their rich gold, copper, and nickel resources, their territories are often vulnerable to commercial logging, energy extraction, and mining corporations which destroy the environment, particularly its mountains and forests, due to their massive and destructive operations. The enacted law for ancestral domains is less effective as our indigenous people still struggle with the conflict regarding their properties and the perpetrators. A prominent activist for the rights of Indigenous Filipinos agrees that they are disregarded by those with authority as these outsiders have money, resources, and a government official back up unlike the indigenous people.
