         <description><![CDATA[<div>Due to the colder climate in Eastern Europe, there is a shorter growing season. Food is based on what grows well.&nbsp;<br>Beets and Turnips grow well in the area and are used in cooking. Russia has a soup called borscht made from beets.&nbsp;<br>Potatoes and grains grow well in some areas, so bread and dumplings are a staple.&nbsp;<br>Goulash, a meat stew, decorative slices of bread, and Blini are popular dishes in the region.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>About 292 million people live in the region, with 68% being an urban population. Eastern Europe consists of people belonging to dozens of ethnic groups, including Poles, Slovaks, European Jewish, Bosniaks and Romani.<br>Languages spoken in Eastern Europe include Slavic (most common), Polish, Lithuanian, and Romanian.<br>After WWII, many Eastern European nations were under the control of the Soviet Union and made communist nations. During the 1980s, many nations rebelled and Democratization took place. Nations changed their economies to Capitalism. This was easy for some, not for others.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>84% of the people in Eastern Europe are Christian many being Eastern Orthodox, however some countries have Catholic majority.<br>Similar to Catholicism, but had differences long time ago where they split (Byzantine vs Roman).<br>Around 200,000 Jewish people live in Russia, making it the largest Jewish area. Some countries like the Czech Republic have a large number of people that don’t identify themselves as any religion.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many holidays are based on religion in Eastern Europe, similar to the West.&nbsp; Easter is seen as the most important holiday of the year.<br>Decorating Easter Eggs is a big tradition.<br>Some pagan holidays are still celebrated like the summer solstice, Carnival,&nbsp; and Shrovetide.<br>Pre-date Christianity, some adopted as Christian holidays.<br>Other holidays celebrated include Name Day, Women’s Day, New Year and All Saints Day.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

Some live in towns, some live as nomads.<br>Some farming is done in the region.<br>Trans-Siberian Railroad is the longest railroad in the world, connecting East Asia with Russia.&nbsp; Helps with trade between continents and has led to more people living in Siberia.<br>&nbsp;It's the home of Spartacus.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
