White is used to represent an idea of purity and tranquility, in this case I think tranquility is a huge visual theme in the image and the magazine as a whole, its used as a contrast to stereotypical masculinity where men are expected to be powerful and often portrayed as quite angry or aggressive. The reason for this is because the magazine focuses on changing the way men are represented throughout media. This image is the leading image for the magazine, also the only image for the front cover, this image helps generate meaning for the magazine as we are able to get an idea of what this man on the cover is like. This also links into the type of demographic that this magazine is aimed towards, middle class, and how it is simpler, cleaner, neater.
