Students with Special Educational needs by Elyssa Erlendson

Imagine you are in a class of 20 students, and one of them has a severe learning impairment. Some teachers may view this as a challenge, but others may see it as a chance to make a positive impact. On a scale of zero to ten, where zero represents viewing the situation as a problem and ten represents seeing it as an opportunity, how would you rate your own perspective and why? Respond to at least one post.

4, chances are if the learning impairment is severe I would likely have support in the classroom. However I almost said higher because I have not taught yet and this maybe a big challenge to me if it was in my first year.

I see it as an opportunity for us as teachers to implement new strategies into our classroom. The changes we make to accommodate special needs learners may not only help them, but also others who are struggling in their own ways. Though, this is still a challenge that will take time, effort, and practice to be done well.

If you can balance the needs of all students with that one on one connection then you've won the day. But if your work with that student is limiting your time with others then is it helping everyone else.
