I think the people in this stage are the ones that end up being unhappy later in life. Using the video as an example, Frankie may end up making a lot of money as an accountant, but he isn't passionate about it and will come to regret this later. He is living his life to please others and no matter how "successful" he may be, he will never be "fulfilled."

This status describes me when I started college about four years ago, when my daughter was a year old. I had only graduated high school a year earlier and I knew the longer I waited to go back to school, the less likely I would be to go back at all. So I jumped head first into any program I could at Augusta Tech. I ultimately ended up in paralegal studies, less than one year away from graduating, and I left. I did what was easy and what I felt like, at the time, would be best for me and my daughter. I wasted a lot of time and financial aid trying to meet this imaginary standard that I set in my head rather than just waiting until I was mentally prepared to seek out a program/school that I actually wanted to attend.

I feel like these people would be similar to myself. After taking the easy way out and not following their passion, they would get burnt out quicker and again, possibly have regrets later on because they didn't take the time to LIVE and either didn't figure out what makes them "tick" or did find out and chose not to pursue it because it was too hard or even because it wouldn't make them a lot of money in the future

Moratorium Identity State

The moratorium state describes a large majority of high school and college students. Even after researching school programs and careers and doing volunteer work, it can still be difficult to choose a major. Choosing a major can outline your whole life, which is overwhelming and scary. But I think that what makes the moratorium state different than the first two is that these people already know that they WANT to be in school and WANT to be successful and are taking t he initiative to find their calling, they just haven't quite found it yet.

Achievement State

The achievement state, which has only come after many years (4) of trial and error, has finally reached me. Like others in the achievement state, I've spent some time researching my major and what my ultimate goal will be; I'm aware of the pros and cons and the difficulty of my commitment. However, I'm only following my passion which has made this journey a million times less miserable. Once in this state, people are able to look past all of the hurdles and setbacks because they are intrinsically motivated and truly want what they're chasing.
