Costia

Costia is a small external parasite which can survive both on a host (fish) and in tank water. it resembles a small cell, with a nucleus and a small tail for mobility. This parasite thrives off of the bacterium found in poor water quality, and reproduces asexually. When conditions are good for the cell, it will continuously divide and attach to the scales of tank inhabitants as a food source. Symptoms include difficulty in breathing (as they cover the gills), slow gill movements, the fish spending more time near sources of oxygen (filters and air stones) and the fish rubbing against surfaces. The best for of treatment lies in prevention, this includes constant tank maintenance such as water changes. Medication known as Chloramine-T (salt crystals) is also avaliable. A few pieces of this can be sprinkled into the water and due to the parasites short lifespan, this treatment should only be needed once.
for more information: http://www.koi-pond-guide.com/costia.html

Swim to the surface more- becoming more difficult to breath.
This causes discomfort to the fish when swimming if not treated this could be a fail to comply with legislation. For treatment there are different types of treatment for the different stages of the disease, for the soothing the difficulty for breathing. Antibiotics for anti parasitic medicine are given to the fish however tanks are.Treatment needs to administered a few times because it is a very persistant parasite and might return. More information on different types of symptoms and treatment at: https://pethelpful.com/fish-aquariums/white-spot-disease-ich-ick

velvet disease, also referred to as gold dust disease, is a disease that most commonly occurs in tropical and (to a lesser extent) marine aquaria. it is caused by dinoflagellate parasites of the genus piscinoodinium, which stems from the pathogen oodinium. this disease gives the fish a dusty, slimy look.
during the infecting phase, the parasite feeds on live organic matter through roots that it uses to attach to the skin of the fish. In the free phase, a protective shell forms on the inside, which then reproduces by cellular division. it can produce more than 300 spores.
Causes:abrupt changes in water temperature, introduction of new fish without quarantine, tired fired that are lacking in defenses, old water and the introduction of new plants with cysts.
Symptoms: behavioral changes, fin twitching, body rubbing, fins against the body, ulcers in the skin, skin detachment, exophthalmia dusty and opaque skin.
The parasite affects the gills and commonly leads to respiratory failure.
Treatment: copper salts, quinine salts or methylene blue, covering aquarium so no light can get in, increasing the temperature.

The disease is the result of the infection as the fluid builds up the eye begins to swell and bulge out of the head (hence the term pop eye). The outer surface of the eye will commonly become white and cloudy.
Pop eye is most commonly caused by poor water quality within the fishs' environment however it can also be a result of other injuries or damage to the eye.
The build up of fluid/infection will cause discomfort for the fish and make it more difficult for them to carry out some of their natural behaviours such as looking for food and avoiding predation.
