As German SS and police units entered the ghetto, members of the Jewish Fighting Organization and other Jewish groups attacked German tanks with Molotov cocktails, hand grenades, and a handful of small arms.

Eventually, the driver took him to a safer place and let him sleep and eat on their way. This shows resistance from the mother because she had to take the risk of her own life to save the life of her son Emanuele. He helped save Jews by demanding the Red Cross representative to put Spanish signs on maternity clinics, hospitals, and orphanages in Budapest where Jews were able to stay inside these buildings under Spanish Protection. He shows resistance because he saved the lives of over 5,000 Hungarian Jews from being deported to Auschwitz. Instead, he would smuggle and save Jewish children hidden under food sacks in a large cargo attached to the bike with his colleagues. By the end of the war, he had saved approximately 600 Jewish children and transported them to a daycare facility next to Hulst school and was later taken out of the city with the help of nursery workers and his colleagues.
