It's a little violent, but a great movie all in all. I really like wartime movies, and while this one certainly isn't a traditional one, Inglourious Basterds falls within the category. It was written by Mark Twain. Without spoiling it too much, what I find most interesting is that the protagonist tries to live out a sort of power fantasy as a 'modern, civilized, superior human.' He isn't necessarily right about that assumption about himself. The way that this theme plays out is very engaging and thought-provoking. Similar to Band of Brothers it depicts the much-neglected part of the Second World War. It also shows the hardships that Marines, friends, and innocent civilians went through in the Pacific. One of my favorite mini-series and television production of three books that are also great as well.
