Hope remained in the jar to symbolize the fact that humans won't let go of it. You can't blame Pandora for being curious, because curiosity is human nature. However, hope is also human nature, and there will never be a time when people don't have hope. Right now, people are searching for somewhere to let their hope lie, and they may have a hard time, but they still have hope. 
 Although hope is a blessing, there can be a time when too much hope leads us to believe that foolishly wonderful things will happen over night. False hope is as dangerous as a knife, in my opinion. We can't just throw a bunch of love and hope at a problem and say, "it's fixed!". We need to recognize the fact that virtues besides hope need to be used. 
In conclusion, hope is a blessing, unless we have too much of it, are blinded by it, or hope/have faith in dumb things.
