Should parents have say in who you decide to marry?

I believe that parents should NOT have a say in who you marry as they are not the ones spending the rest of their life with them.

Parents should not have a say in their child's marriage as it would be unfair and cruel for someone to be stuck with someone who on the outside is a nice person to their parents but is unfortunately not the right person they are looking for, an example with Paris is pressuring Capulet for an answer from Juliet but gives no consideration to the fact her cousin Tybalt was killed not long ago, showing us that he might not be the kindest person that actually cares for Juliet.

So I say no, arranged marriage is not the way to go if you want your children to love you.

I believe parents should have a voice but NOT control over who you marry because it's your own decision to make.

Parents should not have a say because there are different cultures and families. Whether parents should have a say depends on many things like culture, family, and personal beliefs. It's important for parents and adult children to talk openly and respect each other's opinions. Even though parents' thoughts matter, the final decision should usually be up to the people getting married, because they're the ones building a life together.

Parents should have the ability to agree or disagree with who you choose to marry to a certain extent. If your partner is well mannered and respectful, then parents should be able to see that and give permission to them to marry their daughter/son. If your partner is disrespectful towards you or your family or there are other things that your parents may hate, then denying permission should be allowed. Although, your parents must have a reason behind this and it cannot just be something like "they have a weird smile" or "they don't like my homemade curried sausages". In Romeo and Juliet, Capulet had no right going behind Juliet's back and planning her wedding without her even knowing that Paris had feelings for her. If this were something to happen to today, I doubt it if anybody's parents would get away with it.
