Ricky loves a practical task, he has shown his talents and progression from his short film “ The Mind Is A Prison’ to his take on Depeche Mode’s hit  ‘Enjoy the Silence’ which exploded out of the blocks for his music video production unit,he loves creating something different.

Ricky has loved his time at Harlow College, as an individual he has grown into a respectable adult and developed his skills, even though he has the tendency to fall clumsily to the floor beside swimming pools…

Ricky plans to carry on his journey after the course by attending Kingston University in London to study Film Making and seeks to make short films and pieces of creative work until his time comes. With his drive and persistence there are no boundaries that will stop this prodigy.

Hard work isn’t something 20-year-old Sophie Stacey shies away from, and just to
prove it this year she won the BTEC Outstanding Media Student of 2014 award, at Harlow
College.

The positive atmosphere of the college and the close relationships between tutor and student, has allowed Sophie to thrive and achieve great grades.  She describes herself simply as organised, conscientious and committed - three attributes that both tutors and class mates would undoubtedly agree with.

Sophie’s time studying media has been about learning new skills, whilst showing off her
personality and technical strengths. One of her favourites units was Music Video Production.

The next step for Sophie is to carry on her studies at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. There she is going to do a fast track degree in Digital Film Production. In the future Sophie hopes to achieve her dream of becoming a film producer. 

It is safe to say that the media course has enabled Sophie to flourish, whilst learning about something she has great passion for. Sophie simply summed up her time at the college as ‘the best decision I ever made’.

Fleur Locke is a quiet but hardworking girl. She would be described by tutors as a content girl with many hidden talents and takes a methodical approach to all tasks given. She shone in her music video unit where she used different camera techniques to help create a brilliant music video. Fleur gives off a calming influence throughout her class.  

Fleur’s favourite part of the course was learning to use different types of industry used programmes such as Photoshop and InDesign. This allowed her to show off her creative side. As a result of using these programme one of Fleur’s proudest pieces of work was the page layout.

Outside of college Fleur works part time at the designer shop Hollister. She has worked there for approximately a year and a half. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family and attending gigs. 

After spending two years studying hard on the media course Fleur is set to further her education at Goldsmiths University in London. She wishes to continue studying in the Media industry that is why she is studying a Media and Communications course. It is a given that Fleur will succeed in anything she does , university will help her development many of the talents that she already holds.

Hannah Tyne is someone who is never dull to be around; she is frequently described by classmates as being a nutcase and this sums Hannah up perfectly. If feeling low Hannah is the girl you want to be around, thanks to her fun company and bubbly personality. Therefore unsurprisingly Hannah has not had a problem with anyone and has found it extremely easy to fit in with the group and socialise. Although after a long stressful day Hannah can be in a bit of a mood, she always pulls through with a smile on her face and some really exciting work. Although we all say we like films and music, with Hannah it’s more believable, and she has shown this by taking her passions and producing brilliant pieces of work such as creating a music video which could be mistaken as professional. As Hannah is one of the most creative, dynamic and determined students there is no doubt that she will be a success in the media industry. Next year Hannah plans to take her love for the subject to the next level by studying Film and Moving Image Production at Norwich University of Arts, she hopes this will enable her to work in her dream job – film production.

Many people have seen the brilliant music video he and a group of students created to the song ‘U2 – With or Without You’. It has so many views that even Universal saw it and Callum and his team nearly got sued due to copyright!

Callum has done exceptionally well in handball and represented England in Sweden in the Partille Cup as well as playing in the national championship with Bedford Hawks.

He’s known by his friends for always being there, just not on time. In the small amount of time he has been driving he has nearly been in accidents on a daily basis! Don’t get in the car with him! He is also known for his intense love of pink boxers and long walks on the beach.

Callum plans to go to the University of Arts in London to study cinematography. He’s extremely ambitious and aims to become a film director and wants to be the next Martin Scorsese. He’d also like to run his own digital media company and “doesn’t need a backup plan”. Remember the name!

Aileen hopes to study photography at UCA Farnham where she plans to put her organised and hardworking skillset to the test. Although she may be nervous about moving out and living with five other strangers, she is sure that this will increase her independence and improve her cooking skills!

Aileen came across her love for photography after signing up for the media course at Harlow College. Having originally studied her first year of A levels at the college, she quickly realised that this wasn’t the pathway for her, and transferred over to the creative media department. Naturally, photography was one of her favourite units to study, alongside film studies as she felt that the teachers were really great and made it easy to get the work done.

Although it may be work work work for Aileen, even when she is out of college and at a local café part time, she enjoys socialising with friends and horse riding every now and again. After two years of friendship, banter and jokes within the classroom, Aileen thinks it’ll be the friends and teachers that will be hardest to leave behind.

You’ll find Aileen’s photography displayed throughout the college, expressing her truly creative flare that she has forthe subject.

Connor’s favourite subject has been photography with it being the most enjoyable of the varied units with work on things such as cinematography following second. Although Connor wouldn’t like to keep his media studies up in University, he is looking into criminology at Anglia Ruskin.

Kelly has really helped Connor throughout his time here. He mentioned that “Kelly doesn’t give up, she’s been really supportive”. With Kelly’s support Connor has managed to keep together a busy work schedule and is managing to achieve his goals and move on to university.

His class mates would describe him as a large character in the class and note that he will be missed not only by his tutors but his classmates as well. Connor’s personality is reflected in his work and has allowed him to achieve a mix of various different grades throughout his time here at Harlow College.

From humble beginnings, Jack has explored the many paths of creative media during his time at college. He was especially accomplished in the animation unit, where his early imagination ignited his ambitions to be.

Jack is also distinguished in his music video editing skills and wishes to be remembered for it. He hopes to emulate these newfound skills on a far bigger stage in the future.

Despite his talents for editing, Jack wouldn’t define himself as a technician. He wishes to share his own imagination by writing scripts for the world of film and perhaps even by becoming a director some day.

Jack’s next ticket won’t be taking him to the cinema just yet. Instead, he is set to travel to university to study broadcast media, where he hopes to be tutored in every role from cameraman to editor.

With a reputation among his classmates for being a fierce critic, Let’s hope that he’s not reviewing his first blockbuster. Jack Shepherd is undisputedly a tough man to please.

When Elisha isn’t working as a sales colleague at Currys, she enjoys playing the guitar. Although she doesn’t take part in gigs as much as she used to but she’s still very inspired by playing guitar and will continue playing it until she dies. Her plans for when she finishes studying Graphic Communication is to go travelling, Elisha is hoping to travel across Europe, Africa and Asia and with her determination I’m sure she will do.

In 10 years time Elisha hopes to have her own business and have her own team of clients in the promoting and marketing industry. She enjoys the creative side of the industry such as designing the advertisements, campaigns and product packaging.

Elisha is described by her classmates as being very driven which is a good attitude to have especially when she want's to get in such a competitive industry. She will most definitely achieve her dreams and ambitions for the future.

Gracie Sullivan is a bright and talented media student who has shown creativity and determination throughout her time on the course. She has established herself in the class with her friendly personality and by being able to get along with anybody and everyone. Her tutors have said, “She is a very diligent and hard working individual who always persists to achieving the highest grade possible”.

Gracie has produced some great work in the projects that she has been giving by her tutors in which
she has excelled and proven time and time again she can produce work at
distinction level. Her proudest piece of work is with her single camera film
about the seven deadly sins, the film showcased Gracie’s ability to work in a group
and to professional standards.

As well as socialising in college Gracie also likes to spend time with friends outside of
college and when she isn't being made laugh watching a film at the cinema she
enjoys going to music festivals to experience new and old types of music.
Gracie's tutor also said she loves fashion and keeps up with the latest trends.

After Gracie has finished her time at Harlow College she plans on going to the University of
Hertfordshire to Study Marketing and Advertising. Both her tutors and
classmates are expecting good things from Gracie and can use her Skills learned
from media studies in furthering her education.  

Elosie started her illustrious academic at Saint Mathews Primary school, and then swiftly breezed into Saint Ann’s Catholic High School, where she enjoyed a childhood rife with friends and fun, always wanting to learn more and gain new experience.

For GCSE, took more GCSE’s than most, giving an opportunity to expand her knowledge beyond the norm, with the basic subjects, and other more interesting ones, such as Music, R.E, ICT, Drama and Sociology. This diverse array of subjects gave her many options in life to pursue. That said, her favourite part of school was still the “Practical stuff”, as she felt this gave her the best opportunity to flex her skills outside of theory work.

As someone who lived in Epping, Harlow offered her a better place to shop, and seeing Harlow College advertised this way inspired her to join the college, and pursue a chance to be part of the possibly the most creative industry on the planet, the Media Industry. Students in her class say Elosie is “ is a very creative person, always wanting to work on a new project, or just generally do something new”.

After Harlow College, Eloise wants to go to university to further her advancement in the media industry, but is still relatively undecided, keeping her mind open to any new opportunities that come her way.

Nicole is an extremely dedicated student who has set herself high targets and has worked hard to ensure that she achieves them, even if it means working through the Christmas period.

Nicole's favourite unit on the course has been film studies and she knew this almost right away. This is probably because Nicole is a critical person when it comes to films and she enjoys the art of analysing films to get a greater understanding on why things happen in a film.

After college Nicole plans to go on to do an apprenticeship in the magazine or social media industry this is because after exploring the possibility of university she found that it was really not for her.

Outside of college Nicole is passionate about animals and her dream job would be to work in London zoo as a zoo keeper. This is because Nicole finds happiness in animals of all kinds and she believes that the welfare of animals is very important.

Nicole has done extremely well during her time on the media course, showing dedication and passion in everything she does. She has a clear vision about what she would like to achieve in life and she will work hard to make sure she is successful.  

Lauren's classmates don’t really know how to describe Lauren though she enjoys a lot of the friendly banter the tutors and class have to offer and loves the atmosphere it gives off in the class. Banter is key for a good classroom vibe and Lauren feels her class has got the balance just right. She’ll certainly miss the great laughs after moving on to work or whatever the future may hold for her.  She’ll also miss her classmates and the times they have shared with each other while studying on the media course.
