Back in the 1800s, slaves had to face these adversities every day. <br>Background Information: A slave hardened by slavery, Frederick Douglass writes about his personal experiences as a slave in "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass," to end slavery. He wrote this autobiography in 1845, when he escaped.<br>Thesis Statement:  Along with the use of figurative language Douglass uses his story to reveal the effects of slavery on slave and slave owners, which supports the position to end slavery.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Topic Sentence:  In conclusion, Frederick Douglass wrote this novel by using his personal experiences to persuade the audience to try to end slavery. Douglass' targeted audience were free white people, that have the power to help. Without Douglass, slavery might still exist today. Douglass was definitely successful in helping to end slavery. Douglass has set examples for people, even today. </div>]]></description>
