For our very first station, we were tasked to calculate the total cost of baggages of two siblings that are flying out to Tokyo via Singapore Airlines on Economy Class, given the rate.

• At first, We couldn't find the baggages and spent a lot of time on that station. After finding the baggages with the help from our classmates, we had to weigh the baggages.

• The baggages were VERY heavy ( weighing at 67.1 kg in total !! ) and we had to work together as a team to carry them onto the weighing scale.

For one of the stations, we had to calculate food prices. However, we were VERY careless and calculated the prices wrongly many times.

• We overcame this challenge by being EXTRA careful and wrote down every single step of the working on a piece of paper and double checking it to make sure that this does not happen again for other stations.

We have learnt what complete combustion is, it is a chemical reaction in which all of the carbon atoms in a particular substance are entirely consumed. 

• We also noticed how the air - conditioners in the airport are placed at a lower point to diffuse cool air more efficiently.

• As a team, we have learnt that teamwork is the key to success! Without working together, we could not have completed any of the stations and through this trail, our friendship and bonds have deepened even more!

Advancing on to the second station, we were asked to study some of the unique features of Terminal 3 that makes the airport so eco - friendly.

• We were also required to find the distance between the floor and the lowest air - conditioning vents of some wall structures. Using the Partometer Application, we got Zi Qi to stand next to the wall structure and used the camera to take a photo while using the app to measure the distance.

• After finding the distance between the floor and the lowest - air conditioning vents of a wall structure, we were instructed to use the GPS Area Application to find the length of one of the airport runways. The application was hard to use as it was lagging due to the poor internet connections and we spent a while waiting for it to load.

After completing Station 2, we made our way to Station 3 - Pillar Of Hope, where we were tasked to estimate the height of a pillar as it cannot be easily determined by direct measurements.

• We got Zi Qi to stand next to the pillar again and took a photo of her using the camera function. Since Zi Qi is 1.51 m, we managed to estimate the height of the pillar and it was about 7 times the height of her ! Which means the pillar was 10.57 m ! Wow !

We proceeded to Level 3 Of the airport as we brisk walked to the Fourth Station - What's My Share? Three friends had Chinese cuisine for dinner at Paradise Dynasty and we were asked to calculate the amount each person had to pay if they were to split up the bill equally among themselves.

• We had to refer to the menu board to calculate the prices of each dish. This was when we were VERY careless as the names of the dish were very similar and we often mistook their prices. And we also pressed wrong keys on the calculator , thus, causing inaccuracies in our answers.

• But we managed to overcome this challenge by being EXTRA careful and making sure we did all our workings on a piece of paper before double checking it.

We then took the escalator to Level 4 of the airport and made our way to the Changi Aviation Gallery where the fifth station - Origami, was located. We had to fold 2 different types of paper planes with different wingspans, there were step - by - step instructions on the glass panels. The purpose of folding the paper planes with different wingspans was to find out if a paper plane with a wider wingspan would fly further than one with a narrower wingspan. 

• We had some difficulties folding the second plane as the design was a bit more complicated but we tried again and followed the instructions even more carefully and managed to fold Plane 2. To test the hypothesis, we found a quiet location and each of us took turns to fly both planes until we had four measurements of the distance each paper plane flew.

• We then found the average distance each plane flew, the conclusion is that a plane with a wider wingspan DOES NOT fly further than one with a narrower wingspan as a wider wingspan means more surface area, thus, more air resistance which won't make the plane fly very far.

• Although we completed the station, we DID NOT managed to submit our answers as the Internet connection was VERY poor.

Overall, we had gained a lot through this trail and we have grew closer to each other too! We would rate this experience a 9 / 10 as the only flaw is the terrible internet connection. But this trail has also deepen our interest for the subjects and how we can use what we learnt in our daily lives.
