One of the reasons is pretty obvious, Covid-19. It has changed the way we live, learn and socialize with others. I had to make a transition to online learning which was a very obstacle to overcome. I feel like we are different from teens in other times of history because we are able to adjust to the weird situations due to the new technology. If Covid-19 happened in the early 2000’s we would not have been able to continue learning and we would have had to stop our education for a long time. A second reason my life has changed over the last two 2 years is that I made a change from public school to private school. The change from the two levels of education was very difficult to overcome. The public school system did not give a lot of homework compared to American Heritage. Also, private school has more opportunities for students. There is a wide variety of sports, clubs and subjects we can learn. My experience with public school was very fun but wasn’t as educationally intense as American Heritage. First, soccer brings me joy because it is like therapy, when I play, i completely forget everything that is going on with my life. When I go to soccer practice I feel like I am in an alternate world. Food  brings me lots of joy because it is fun to experiment with trying new things. Cooking is also a cool hobby I enjoy because it helps me bond with my parents. Another reason I like cooking is because I like to see my family's reaction to my food, whether it is good or bad. If their reaction is good then I am happy but if it is bad then I will try my best to make the meal better next time. Fishing brings me joy aswell. It is very similar to soccer in a way. It is like therapy and can clear your mind of many things. Lastly, I love hanging out with friends because it brings me closer to them. Whenever my friends and I hang out, we get to know each other more and more. I do not personally experience racism often but I can relate because I am a person of color. Racism is “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized”(Oxford Languages). Racism bothers me the most because I do not understand why people can not get along with each other and understand that we are all equal. A couple weeks ago I experience slight racism. Two of my team mates and I were walking into a subway at 8:50 (they closed at 9). We went to order and the cashier quickly cut us off and told us they were packing up. We understood so we walked away. As we were walking away, a family of white people went up and ordered. We were very confused but we did not want to make a scene so we went home.
