After five years of hard studying Journalism at UFSC, I realized I did not want to have that profession anymore. So I went back to university, this time to be a teacher. The interest in learning languages and the idea of teaching have always walked with me in my life. Now, I am in my third year in the Letras course, at Federal University of Parana, where I intend to develop studies in the Linguistics area, mainly in Phonetics and Phonology. I want to teach English in regular schools, as well as at universities, eventually. This is why my plan after gratuation is to apply for a master's degree and doctorate. So far, so good.

Hi, I’m Carina and I started study Economics at UFPR in 2012, yes, 6 years ago. However, If everything goes well, I will graduate in the end of this semester. I’m doing my thesis about income inequality in Brazil, using the Marxist theory. In May, I left my job to dedicate me to the University and to study to exam for master’s degree. It is not working like I imagined because I’m a little lazy. I studied English since 2013 until the beggining of this year at Celin, and It was very important for my learning. When my English get better, I would like to study Spanish and French.

My name is Emanuelle, I’m graduated in International Relations and I’m finishing my second undergrad course, which is business administration. I work in the procurement department in Boticário Group, but my dream is to have a job related to development of new international business and I want to live abroad. I love travelling, discovering new cultures and meeting new people. I want to improve my English, specially writing skills because I intend to take the IELTS test at the end of the year. Nice to meet you! 😊

5 things you didn't know about Hitchcock's movie "Rope"

1- The story is based on a real-life murder

The screenplay is an adaptation from a 1929 British play called "Rope's end", written by Patrick Hamilton, which in turn is based on a real-life murder. The case involved two University of Chicago's students (Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb) who murdered a 14-year-old boy as a demonstration of their intellectual superiority (to kill and not being caught). They wanted to prove Nietzsche's theory "supermen", which says that some unusual individual have superior intellects and capabilities that allow them to rise above laws.

2- Long continuous take

Hitchcock's interest was adapting the play considering the length of time of the original story. Since the series of events took place in one single set, he decided to shoot the movie in a long continuous take, without cuts and editing.

3- Choreographed moves

The walls of the set were on rollers and could silently be moved out of the way when the camera and actors needed to pass. Moreover, actors performed choreographically, using many cues so the action would not be interrupted.

4- Homosexuality

Recent reviews claim that the leading characters held a homosexual relation, even though homosexuality was a highly controversial theme for the 1940s. Ath that time, movies were banned and Rope made it past the Production Code censor

5- It didn't work out. (?)

Alfred Hitchcock called Rope "an experiment that didn't work out."
