They dont remember who they are or how they got to the place theyre at. They only remember their name but it takes a few days for them to remember. They have to work together to survive and are basically living outside a maze. The first day he is with the other boys are hard for him because he is thrown into a completely different environment. He is immediately bullied by another character who eventually dies. The boys were forced to start farming and create a small working town for them. The maze runners also need to remember where they went and how to get out because the maze changes every night. Shifts different and no path is the same. The only creature they see in the maze are called grievers and are described as robotic spiders basically. They are huge and have sharp claws. If you get cut by one you get infected and basically turn into a psychopath with rabies. You try to kill everyone. One day one of his friends went into the maze and was attacked. He couldnt walk right because the griever got his leg but his friend minho who is also a maze runner, was also in there with him trying to help him get out. But Minho and the hurt friend couldnt get out before the maze started to close because the maze opens and closes like clockwork. So Thomas ran in to help them. They found a bar-code and location on the griever after they killed one so they figured they killed all the grievers and it was safe to venture inside. They got to the end of the maze and there was a door. So they entered.
