Tourism is undoubtedly a positive force in today's world, benefiting both travelers and host communities. It's not just about visiting new places; it's a catalyst for economic growth, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. Tourism injects vital funds into local economies, creates jobs, and stimulates small businesses. A report by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) indicates that the travel and tourism sector supported over 330 million jobs worldwide in 2019, illustrating its remarkable employment potential.

Moreover, tourism fosters cultural exchange as travelers engage with diverse cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. This cultural exchange promotes tolerance and understanding among people of various backgrounds, leading to a more interconnected world where stereotypes and prejudices are challenged and replaced by mutual respect.

In conclusion, tourism is indeed a force for good. It fuels economic growth, encourages cultural exchange, and bridges the gap between nations and individuals. While it's essential to ensure sustainable and responsible tourism practices to minimize negative impacts, there's no doubt that the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. By experiencing the world and connecting with different cultures, tourists play a significant role in making our global community more harmonious and prosperous.

-Yardan

The subject and argument surrounding the subject of tourism has driven our interconnected world into a storm. Does it boost the economic income of our country? Or does it cause environmental damage that is overpopulation? Looking at the definition of tourism, according to The Oxford Dictionary, tourism is the commercial organization and operation of vacations and visits to places of interest. To simplify, tourist opens doors to people to new surroundings and climates and would be a positive change of perspective for people. Tourism helps different countries to gain popularity and ability to spread their obscure culture, which would help them intake income that would be beneficial to fund their economy and would create employment opportunities. This would be favorable to developing countries to gain the attention they deserve. Tourism also boosts infrastructures of a country and would end up helping them embrace their culture and it plants a sense of cultural exchange, revitalization of customs and art forms and the preservation of their heritage.

However the negative in this case is that tourism does more harm to poorer nations also known as third-world countries, the bad thing includes exploitation and gentrifying citizen’s homes especially in developing countries. Tourism could also affect the environment and habitat of the country for example, soil erosion, increased pollution due to traffic, trash scattered from careless tourists, etc., discharges into the sea (trash, oil, waste), natural habitat loss, increased pressure on endangered species and heightened vulnerability to forest fires. Tourism could also lead to the loss of cultural identity, though it helps them to embrace their culture, the culture that they used to have would be modernized due to an attempt to attract more tourists and such. In conclusion, Yes, I agree that tourism is good, however, there are some precautions that for example, while visiting tourist attractions it's great to keep human morals in mind and it is the right thing to to be respectful of other culture's customs and rules. Pollution can be decreased by dispersing tourist attractions to have a limit of people to avoid overpopulation and to set a strict rule to throw trash and waste in their respective areas.

-Quinn

Tourism can be both good and bad. This brings both benefits and challenges to the affected areas. Bali, Indonesia, is a prime example of this dual impact.

On the positive side, tourism has boosted Bali's economy significantly. The island's beautiful beaches, rich culture and warm hospitality attract millions of visitors every year. These tourists spend their money on hotels, food, and souvenirs, providing jobs and income for local communities. Infrastructure improvements such as better roads and airports are also possible through tourism revenues. Additionally, Bali's cultural heritage is shared with the world, fostering understanding and appreciation.

However, the negative side of tourism in Bali is also clear. Overcrowding and environmental problems have emerged. The island's rapid development in accommodating tourists has drained its resources. Overpopulation and traffic jams have become daily challenges. In addition, the increase in waste produced by tourists also threatens Bali's natural beauty, including its pristine beaches and lush landscapes.

In addition, the commercialization of culture can result in a loss of authenticity. Traditional practices can be a show for tourists, not genuine customs.

In conclusion, tourism in Bali, like in many other places, has advantages and disadvantages. Undoubtedly, this contributes to economic growth and cultural exchange, but it also raises environmental and cultural challenges. Finding a balance that maintains Bali's unique charm while benefiting from tourism remains a major challenge for the island's future.

Ching

In my opinion, yes. Tourism certainly leaves a positive impact. Firstly, it fosters economic growth by creating jobs and generating a lot of revenue for the local communities. With a lot of income coming from tourism, we can help improve infrastructure, public services, and overall living standards of the local communities. Other than helping the economy of the local population, tourism promotes cultural exchange and understanding by bringing people from different backgrounds together, promoting mutual respect and tolerance. It also encourages the preservation of cultural and natural heritage. Furthermore, tourism allows individuals to experience the beauty and diversity of today’s world, creating lasting memories that would last for a live time. When managed responsibly and sustainably, tourism can be a force for good, benefiting both travellers and the destinations they visit.

Evandra Valencio

In my opinion, tourism can be good but also bad. It's like a two-sided coin, and the outcome depends on different things. For the good side, tourism can give income/money to a certain place. This means more jobs, better business for local shops, and also extra money for the government. It also lets people from different parts of the world learn about each other's cultures. For the bad side, tourists can harm the environment. They can overcrowd places, make them dirty, and litter everywhere. Tourism can also change the way local people live and their traditions. Sometimes, local culture like a product for tourists, losing its real meaning. Another issue is that the money from tourism doesn't always help everyone in the community. Big companies and fancy hotels often make the most profit, while local people might not see much benefit. In the end, whether tourism is good or bad depends on how it's done and where. If it's managed well, with care for the environment and local people, it can be good. But if it's not controlled, it can harm nature and culture.

-Lourdes

Tourism is undeniably a critical driver of economic growth and development, benefiting both destinations and travelers. With millions of people exploring new places and experiencing different cultures each year, tourism has become a powerful force in the global economy.

From an economic perspective, tourism creates jobs and stimulates local businesses. It generates substantial revenue that supports various industries, including hospitality, transportation, entertainment, and more. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, tourism directly supported over 330 million jobs in 2019, accounting for 10.4% of the global workforce. These economic advantages are particularly vital for regions that rely heavily on tourism as a primary source of income.

However, tourism isn't just about numbers and dollars. It also fosters cultural exchange and understanding. Travelers have the opportunity to immerse themselves in local customs, traditions, and cuisines, which promotes cross-cultural interactions. This not only broadens the horizons of tourists but also fosters tolerance and respect for different cultures, ultimately breaking down stereotypes and fostering a sense of global community.

Tourism also plays a crucial role in preserving and protecting cultural and natural heritage. The income generated from tourism often funds the conservation of historical sites, monuments, and ecosystems. This financial support is essential for the maintenance of these valuable assets, ensuring they can be enjoyed by future generations.

Beyond the economic and cultural benefits, tourism contributes to global cooperation and interconnectedness. It connects people from different parts of the world, fostering a sense of unity and breaking down barriers. This can contribute to peace and understanding among nations.

In summary, tourism is more than just a leisure activity; it is a force for positive change. It drives economic growth, promotes cultural exchange and understanding, supports the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, and fosters global cooperation. While it does come with its share of challenges, responsible and sustainable tourism management can maximize its benefits and ensure that its positive contributions continue to be realized.

-Excel

The Good and Bad of Tourism

Tourism is a way for someone to experience something they've never done before, in another country, specifically. Not only does tourism let you have new experiences in a different country than your own, it also makes you have a broader mind than you did before and give you inspiration for your personal activities from a different view, which in this case is from experiencing things in a different country. But that only applies to tourists who visits a country for its culture and knowledge regarding said country. The bad side of tourism is the trash left, the decrease in cultural places, and less local residents. According to Science Direct, more than 35 million tons of solid waste is is produced annually by tourists. With just a million tons of solid waste, you could just imagine how badly it affects the country's environment and its people's well-being - less homes to stay in and more pollution. With more tourists visiting, there will be more hotels and other touristy places to the point that cultural places or even the culture of the country itself will be close to being forgotten or even acknowledged by the entire world, losing their identity. More local residents will be inclined to search for better living arrangements or homes due to the lack of land there is left for the actual people, the residents, of the country. In conclusion, tourism can be good and bad, it can broaden your mind but it can also harm the local residents of the country, which is why we have to always be mindful of the local customs, culture, traditions, and the locals of the country we want to visit and to never forget that every country needs their identity to exist for its people.

- Clara

On the other hand, tourism can have negative effects on the environment, such as soil erosion, pollution, and habitat destruction.

Tourism can be annoying because there is people just taking pictures making it where they might block some people from walking or doing an activity. Some tourist also might do questionably legal things because different countries have different rules and the tourist might not know all the rules in the countries. Even with all of these downsides in tourism, tourism is really good for the country and the tourist them self. The tourist is able to experience the attractions and the buildings that that country has to offer allowing them to relax and rest. While the country is being promoted by the tourist, allowing more tourist to go to that country, making the country a lot more popular and might increase the population of the country by some tourist deciding to live in a different country. This allows the country to thrive while also pleasing people with their attractions. Tourism can also help fix some problem that the country has, for example if the country needs more people with a certain profession, the tourist might be able to show that to the whole world through social media allowing more people to have a job and the country to be better. Tourism can also show a country’s local tradition and culture allowing more people to be interested in a countries culture instead of just their buildings and attractions. While tourism have some downsides and can lead to fights due to some tourist not knowing the countries culture or rules, it can benefit the country in many ways. So inconclusion, yes, tourism is good and insanely beneficial to not only the tourist but also the country it self.

-Fievel

Tourism, undoubtedly a global economic powerhouse, fuels economic growth, fosters cultural exchange, and creates jobs. However, it is a complex industry with profound implications, both positive and negative, for destinations and the environment. While there are clear benefits to tourism, its unchecked growth and environmental repercussions require a more nuanced examination. Tourism can be a double-edged sword, with both favorable and adverse consequences.

On the positive side, tourism injects substantial revenue into the economies of host countries and communities. It supports local businesses, from hotels and restaurants to artisans and tour operators, and provides job opportunities, particularly in areas that may lack diverse employment options. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, in 2019, travel and tourism contributed 10.4% of global GDP and supported 330 million jobs. These figures underscore the economic significance of the industry, especially in regions heavily dependent on tourism.

However, the negative consequences of uncontrolled tourism growth are undeniable. Overcrowding, environmental degradation, and cultural commodification can tarnish the charm and authenticity of tourist destinations. Overtourism, exemplified by cities like Venice and Barcelona, can lead to strained infrastructure, environmental damage, and alienation of local residents. Furthermore, the carbon footprint of travel contributes to global climate change, with aviation emissions being a significant factor. A 2018 study by the International Air Transport Association estimated that aviation was responsible for 2-3% of global carbon emissions.

In conclusion, the impact of tourism is a complex issue with both positive and negative aspects. While tourism can bring significant economic benefits to host regions, unchecked growth can lead to environmental degradation and the erosion of local culture. Striking a balance is crucial, and sustainable tourism practices that minimize the negative consequences while maximizing the positives are essential. It is vital to recognize that tourism can be a good thing, but only when managed responsibly and sustainably.

-chris

Tourism is undoubtedly a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can bring significant economic benefits to a destination, boost cultural exchange, and promote understanding between different cultures. However, it also poses several challenges and drawbacks that cannot be ignored. To assess whether tourism is a good thing, it is imperative to consider both its advantages and disadvantages.

Proponents of tourism argue that it is a powerful driver of economic growth. Tourist spending on accommodation, food, transportation, and various attractions can provide a substantial influx of revenue to local businesses and governments. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, the tourism industry contributed 10.4% of global GDP in 2019 and employed 330 million people. It's a vital source of income for many communities, especially in areas that may lack other industries. This economic boost can lead to improved infrastructure, better healthcare, and educational facilities, which ultimately benefit local residents.

Tourism also plays a significant role in fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Travelers immerse themselves in new cultures, learn about local traditions, and engage with different ways of life. This can promote tolerance and empathy, breaking down stereotypes and prejudices. Moreover, tourism can help preserve cultural heritage by generating funds for the maintenance of historical sites and traditions. When managed responsibly, it can be a force for cultural preservation and celebration.

On the flip side, uncontrolled and mass tourism can lead to overcrowding, environmental degradation, and cultural commodification. Popular tourist destinations often face issues like overtourism, where local communities are overwhelmed, and natural resources are strained. Iconic sites, such as Venice or the Great Barrier Reef, have suffered from the negative consequences of unchecked tourism.

In conclusion, whether tourism is a good thing depends on how it is managed. Responsible and sustainable tourism can bring substantial economic benefits, promote cultural exchange, and help protect cultural heritage. However, when tourism is left unregulated, it can lead to overcrowding, environmental damage, and cultural exploitation. Therefore, the key lies in striking a balance between reaping the benefits of tourism and safeguarding the integrity of the destinations. Proper planning, regulations, and community involvement are essential to ensure that tourism remains a positive force for both visitors and the visited.

-Raphael

Tourism is an intricate issue with benefits and drawbacks that must be carefully balanced. There are benefits to consider as well, such as how it can provide an economic boost by generating jobs and revenue locally, while also promoting cultural understanding through exposure to new perspectives. While mass tourism brings visitors and revenue, the influx of crowds can also result in overpopulation of spaces, environmental harm from overuse, and higher costs of living for the local community. To strike a balance, responsible and sustainable tourism practices are necessary. While the effects of tourism on a location can either be beneficial or unfavorable, the outcome is contingent on how well the industry is administered and overseen in balancing economic gains with environmental and societal concerns. On the other hand, the sheer volume of tourists can strain local resources, leading to overcrowding, environmental degradation, and increased cost of living for residents. Natural landscapes and historical sites are often at risk of irreparable damage due to over-tourism. This can disrupt the delicate balance of local ecosystems and threaten the preservation of cultural heritage. In some cases, the influx of tourists has led to the displacement of local residents, as housing and living costs skyrocket to accommodate the industry.

-Bintang

Tourism is a rapidly growing industry that has become a significant source of revenue and employment worldwide. However, the question remains whether tourism is a good thing or not. While tourism has many benefits, it also has some drawbacks that need to be considered. In this argumentative text i will explain both the advantages and disadvantages of tourism and come to a conclusion about whether tourism is a good thing or not.

Advantages of Tourism:

Tourism is a significant source of revenue and employment. It provides job opportunities to people and helps alleviate poverty and sustain human development

Tourism promotes and benefits small and local handicrafts and cultural activities. It has played a significant role in promoting national integrity and international understanding

Tourism gives people a sense of relief and relaxation when they get tired and exhausted from their hectic schedules and hustle-bustle of city life. It is a pleasant gateway for people

Tourism has benefited other sectors like aviation, transport, horticulture, and handicraft. The hotel industry has immensely benefited from tourism and provides ample employment and helps in earning foreign exchange1

Tourism can be a vehicle for international understanding by bringing diverse people from different cultures and traditions face to face2

Disadvantages of Tourism:

Tourism can have destructive effects on monuments and an increase in criminal activities

Tourism can be dangerous ecologically, as it influences the ecology of the countries in a negative way

Unsustainable intensive tourism development often leads to some local environmental catastrophes

In conclusion, tourism has both advantages and disadvantages. While it is a significant source of revenue and employment, it can also have destructive effects on monuments and the environment. However, the advantages of tourism outweigh its disadvantages. Tourism promotes national integrity and international understanding, and it gives people a sense of relief and relaxation. Therefore, tourism is a good thing, and it is essential to develop tourism infrastructure and maintain tourist destinations, railway stations, airports, and many more. (Kenz)

Pariwisata kini menjadi salah satu industri kreatif yang tentunya memiliki dampak baik positif maupun negatif. Berikut ini dampak positif dan negatif dari pariwisata menurut ku ada beberapa dampak positif dan negativ

Positive Impact.

1. Tourism attracts a lot of investment to an area to build tourism supporting facilities and infrastructure such as Hotels and Accommodation.

2. Tourism opens up vast employment opportunities for many locals ranging from hawkers, accessories to hotel employees. This lowers the unemployment rate in the area.

3. Local revenue from tourist tax can be used to improve regional infrastructure such as roads, bridges and others.

4. Membantu melestarikan kebudayaan daerah dan nusantara.

5. Sebagai sarana promosi negara di dunia internasional.

6. Negara mendapatkan banyak devisa bagi para wisatawan mancanegara yang datang.

The Impact of Ngeatif

1. In developing countries, in fact, the money from many tourism activities does not enter the state treasury but enters the accounts of airlines, hotels or vacation agents.

2. Local workers often earn minimal wages.

3. Many tourists litter so that it damages the environment.

4. The entry of foreign investors, means that the majority of tourist money will go to foreign countries' coffers.

5. The loosening of immigration gates makes many outsiders smuggle narcotics and even bombs.

People questions about tourism, is it a good thing or a bad thing? to be honest its not that good or not that bad. Most tourists can actually learn something when being a tourists in a foreign country, but sometimes it's a bad thing. Why is that? take Bali for an example, these days most Bali beaches are full of trash. Bali is so popular that people often forget it's a city in Indonesia, not a country. Just a reminder that being a tourist in a foreign country, you need to be respectful because it's not your home nor your country it's a foreign country. I really hate it when tourists actually never learn about other countries and just came there and blame things, like? do you even know if that may perhaps be their culture or a common thing to do. It's really questionable how most Americans nowadays still compare their economies with foreign countries economies, just so you know "Americans" our economics is different than your country's economics. Tourism is a good thing and I actually accept it, but not the tourists. Most tourists are really really stupid and very not respectable, they are trashing beaches and tourism places without even REALIZING because their too STUPID. I swear, they really need to be grateful that most of us are kind and have a heart to accept tourism because if not they'll probably just be sad, but really tourism is a good thing but just not the tourists. Well that's it for today thank you for reading this article. Goodbye and see you again!

Jonathan M. Loho from 9B

In my opinion, tourism can be a good or bad thing, and it depends on how you view on it. Tourism may benefit the locals who live in their nearby area by offering various jobs. These jobs may consist of: Hotel night auditor, chef's assistant, Tour guide, Valet, Hotel housekeeper, and so much more.

Tourism can also help the growth of the local economy, and contributes to local infrastructure development. Let's take Bali, as an example, if not for tourism, Bali would still be an island full of sacred beliefs, and not much area are known for tourists. Tourism helps a certain area to grow more economically and it helps to modernize, just like Bali. If you think about it, without tourism, everyone and all nations would be pale and isolated, and there would be not much to share or take. In my opinion, they give colour to the world, by creating a whole lot of change to their tradition and culture. But tourism may affect the locals differently.

Is it really worth it to sell your rice field, your only source of income, and then turning it into a hotel or nightclub as a local? Overtourism could be a bad affect to a certain area. Sure, they can give us the oppertunity to plant or change cultures and traditions, but too much would lead to loss of them. According to tourists, they mostly think that it's a good thing, but if you're a local, then you might think that the act of tourism can lead to their loss of traditions.

There is some good and bad thing about tourism actually. These are the benefits about tourism, first it can boost you economy bussiness, it can generating our income and increasing our income. Second, it can provide opportunity to learn about our place and Tourism can change the world by promoting cultural exchange and understanding between people from diffrent parts of the world. It also can conserve old cities or maybe cultural cities, tourism can be reinvested in the maintenance and protection of these assets. Protection of natural areas, environmental, forest, and restaurant also because there is a tourism, Eco-tourism initiatives can raise awareness about environmental conservation. Sustainable and responsible tourism practices are essential to maximize the benefits of tourism while minimizing its negative effects. There is negative thoughts about tourism. Tourism is not always a good thing, its good be true but the reality is.... it is good, some people might think that tourism is bad for people all around the world, but the benefits are more than the negatives effect. So i would say that tourism is a good thing. It does promote our crafts and arts, Tourists often purchase local arts, crafts, and traditional products, providing an income source for artisans and preserving traditional craftsmanship. It also increasing our quality of live by funding public services, infrastructure, and community development projects.

Countries with many historical landmarks or gorgeous natural destinations always use tourism as one of the sources for their country's income. The least amount of tourists arrivals is around 6 million, and the most is around 70 million, which shows that many people are attracted into visting other countries. On the surface, tourism has a ton of benefits for both the tourists and the country. The country would get a huge income every year and the tourists are able to enjoy the country's beauty. But everything has a negative side. In many cases, tourists are usually uneducated about the place they are visiting. They can commit disrespectful and even illegal acts around the tourist attraction. The horribe acts of these tourists could also damage the tourist attraction and get them banned from visiting the country ever again. Other than damaging the tourist attraction, horrible acts of tourists could also hurt locals. In fact, tourists aren't the only one disrespecting the locals, the country does to. The goverment would often build expensive hotels, villas, or restaurants near popular tourist attractions on the land of its own people. Locals are pressured into accepting tourists every year into their country, which makes it even worse when these tourists later commit disrespectful acts to them or to their culture and tradtions. These buildings can destroy the country's natural resources, cause pollution, and even force locals out of their home. The greed of the goverment over increasing the money they get from tourism heavily impacts their country's people. In a negative way.

Keisha

tourism can be negative and positive impact, the example is :

(Positive)

1. Money and Jobs: Tourism can help make more money and create jobs for the people who live there.

2. Learning from Each Other: People from different places can learn from each other and understand each other's ways and cultures.

3. Better Services: Tourism money can help build better things like roads, hotels, and ways to communicate.

But there are also bad things:

1. Problems between People: More tourists can make local people and tourists not get along, and this can make things more expensive and make local people leave their homes.

To make sure tourism is good, we need to be careful.

tourism is something that is usually done by people from abroad or can also be done in our country too. Tourism usually has 2 scopes, namely inside and outside the country. An example of domestic tourism is going to the beach to see the sunset and playing in the sand. Overseas means going to Korea by plane and there playing in the snow and eating kimchi.Tourists usually travel abroad usually because they are bored in their boring country and want to find entertainment in another country. Usually these tourists visit places such as monuments and also legendary and historical places such as the Majapahit Hotel in Surabaya and also the pointed bamboo statue there.but sometimes they also come not just to visit historical places. They also come to taste traditional food in the country they visit.and for domestic tourism, they usually visit places that are within our country but in different regions. Each of their destinations is good, but do you know the bad and good sides of tourism?.for the bad side On the bad side, when foreigners come to Indonesia, usually individuals there throw rubbish carelessly and act as they please and this can be detrimental to people in our country. Let's take an example like the incident in the news of a foreigner who was naked while riding a motorbike and also they throw their rubbish on Bali beaches. This also has an impact on natural damage in our country too.For the on good side, our country can be known for its culture if someone visits our country. And public transportation will also be profitable. Not only that, our country's cultural significance or historical culture will be known and make our country known to many foreigners. So the conclusion i can't decide that, so how your opinion about this?

-enrique agus

People say that if things are too much, it is not good for ourselves or maybe others. So in my argument for this question, I agree about tourism, but every choice has the risk of it, right?

Before I talk about my argument about "Is tourism a good thing" I would try to explain what is tourism.

According to cambridge dictionary, Tourism is the business of providing services such as transport, places to stay, or entertainment for people on holiday the people got on holiday are called Tourist.

I think this tourism also has effects in the good things and the bad things.

So if we look for the positive first that if tourists come to holiday, the people will get jobs easily or maybe can create a new job because of the tourists that come.

For example, when you go to Bali it has a lot of tourism there because they are on holiday. They have so many things can do in there like doing some activities and one of it they need people to show how to do it the activities.

As for the activities that they do in Bali like traditional dance such as 'tari kecak' it also needs people to help show and teach the tourist to do tari kecak correctly. These activities also can spread Indonesian culture and also can preserve our culture itself.

There is also the possibility that local shop will be more interesting especially if it has traditional culture, tourist will be more interested. Also, we can get a huge money from the business to make the local shop itself.

Tourists sometimes also go with nature and use transportation to go there right? Now let's see the problem of it! (The negative sides)

If we see the negative side nature itself will be not good or not okay for us and nature too, because if there is pollution like trash or maybe air pollution because people cut off trees and make a new department or tower it will be a huge disaster of nature and also for humans.

Then, how we solve the negative sides for it? Personally, if we want to avoid this problem. First, we do need strict rules like don't throw trash anywhere and throw garbage in its place.

Second, there is a strict rule for cutting down the trees to make the tower itself. To avoid cut down the tree to much and also to avoid the thing that nature doesn't want and also is for us to!

And also if it is already got cut we can do reforestation and plants plant.

So the conclusion is that tourism itself can have positive sides and also Negative sides. Try to avoid cutting down trees and throwing trash not in the right place that is the thing we can do to avoid the negative sides of tourism for nature it self.

Thats it from Afanda 9B

SORRY FOR ALMOST LATE :P

For me tourism can be good and bad thing. In my opinion tourism can be both depend on the situation. Tourism is bad because touris doesn’t have any manners to the locals in some certain country. Like freely throwing trash on the beach, do something that against the rules, when u go to a certain country you must find any information about the rules there. For example in bali theres a viral video of two foreigners using motorcycle on the beach . They they just rented it and you can’t use motorcycle on the beach, we have to have manners. For the good thing tourism has been significant contributor to bali’s economy, providing jobs and boosting local businesses and small businesses. Tourism also helped in our culture to be known more internationally about our tradition. So the conclusion is tourism can be both good and bad aspects. The most important thing is bali can continue to get benefits from tourism about our culture and help all bali small shops. With tourism bali popularity will increase and be the most places to visit in the world. That can help with indonesia partnership with other country. We can show balinese tradisional dance and art to people around the world and show that how beautiful is bali tradision culture. With the help of foreigners coming to bali is they can help bali economic boost for example the food is not expensive for foreigners but for Indonesian people its quite expensive so local businesses in bali increase the price for foreigners.they also help bali improve their standard of living

-kayla L

Tourism can be a good thing and a bad thing from all our different perspective. But in my opinion, tourism is a really good thing because it allows people to visit new places such as city, countries, and experience each of different cultures. We can enjoy eveey different things and it will be really fun and exciting to go on vacation and explore new cities or countries. Tourism also helps alot the economy of the place being visited because tourists spend money on things like hotels, restaurants, and souvenirs. This money can create jobs and improve the local community. Additionally, tourism can help people learn about different cultures, traditions, and languages, which can broaden their perspectives and make the world a more understanding place.

However, it's important to remember that tourism can also have some negative impacts on the environment and local communities if not managed properly. So, it's important to be responsible tourists and respect the places we visit. Another reason why tourism can be a good thing is that it promotes cultural exchange and understanding between people from different backgrounds. When tourists visit a new places, they have the opportunity to interact with locals, try new foods, and learn about different customs and traditions. This can also help break down stereotypes and foster empathy and respect for others. It's like opening a door to new experiences and knowledge that we might not get in our own hometown. By exploring different cultures through tourism, we can become more open-minded and accepting of diversity. From all of this, we can also connect and learn from each other.

-Saciko 9A

In China, they have this philosophy that they call Yin and Yang. Yin represents shadow, darkness, and all things with a negative vibe, but on the other hand, Yang represents warmth, joy, and all positive things. So I will be talking about both the good and bad things about tourism. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, Tourism is a business that provides services, such as transportation, places to stay, or entertainment for people who are on holiday. In business, tourism can be an income for them. Exchanging and understanding each other culture can also be useful, for both the locals and the tourists. Hotels are one of the businesses where tourists have to feel comfortable and happy. Learning their culture would be so much fun, although sometimes it's hard to communicate with the locals, especially when you want to ask where the direction is. One of the worst cases is when the place is too crowded with people. We can't enjoy ourselves and have fun, rather we'd end up in a bad mood because of the crowded place. And also when we put too much expectation on the place we're going to, but when we get there it's not the same as what we expect, it would either be so dirty or the weather is not nice. Some tips that I would recommend is to try learning or understanding their culture first so that when we arrive we understand the do's and don'ts, sometimes the locals can't understand what we're saying so at the very least know how to say "Thank you" and "Can you help me" in their language because I'm sure we will often use those two sentences when traveling in other countries.

Grisel

I hope this letter can welcome you enthusiastically. Given the complex relationship between tourism, economic power, and cultural exchange, it is increasingly clear that our exploratory approach holds the key to shaping the collective fate of global society.

On the positive side, tourism has not only emerged as a powerful economic engine but also as a transformative force for local communities. The influx of financial resources into local businesses creates a ripple effect, creating jobs and strengthening critical infrastructure. The World Travel & Tourism Council's 2018 report, which showed an impressive contribution of 10.4% to global GDP, strengthens tourism's position as an important pillar of the world economy. Apart from providing tangible economic benefits, tourism also acts as a carrier of cultural messages, dispelling stereotypes and fostering tolerance through in-depth encounters with diverse traditions.

However, uncontrolled tourism expansion poses environmental and cultural challenges. Beautiful tourist destinations, while alluring, struggle with the impacts of pollution, deforestation and habitat destruction, all of which contribute significantly to the impacts of climate change. At the same time, the lure of financial gain often leads to the commercialization of local culture, endangering its authenticity and threatening the cultural heritage that makes it a unique destination.

In conclusion, a thoughtful and thoughtful approach should be taken. Implementing sustainable practices, developing environmental awareness, and pursuing cultural preservation are not just options; this is the key to responsible tourism. As we explore the world, a balance between economic prosperity and preservation of the environment and cultural heritage becomes increasingly important. Through serious and intentional implementation of responsible tourism, we can ensure that our exploration becomes a force for positive change, encouraging harmonious coexistence between economic growth and preserving our planet's invaluable assets.

My Regards, Irvin

In my opinion, Tourism plays a significant role in fostering cultural exchange by bringing together people from different nation. For example traveling to different destinations allows tourists to experience and learn new languages. And help people to develop language skill understanding. Many destinations have distinctive art forms and tradition, tourist often goes to the local to have a better understanding about the culture they have in the country. And tourism can help with tolerance, to different cultures can promote tolerance and acceptance. Experiencing the diversity of human societies together. Tourism can also educate people and provides opportunities for individuals to interact with people from different cultures. Tourists and locals can engage in conversations, share experiences, and learn about each other traditions, and ways of life. So my conclusion is that Tourism is a cultural exchange encourages the sharing of values, traditions, and customs across borders, fostering global understanding. It facilitates the breaking down of stereotypes and promotes empathy by exposing individuals to diverse lifestyles. Through cultural events, festivals, and heritage sites, tourists become active participants in the preservation and celebration of local identities. Additionally, tourism supports the global dissemination of cultural practices, influencing art, music, and culinary trends worldwide. As a dynamic force, it encourages mutual respect and appreciation, ultimately contributing to a more interconnected and harmonious world where people can celebrate both their uniqueness and shared diffrnt human experiences.

Rainier

Tourism is a widely debated subject with both positive and negative impacts on the communities that welcome it. On the one hand, tourism can bring in much-needed revenue to the local economy and create jobs for residents. On the other hand, it can lead to negative environmental consequences, such as pollution and deforestation, and can negatively impact the local culture and traditions.

One of the key benefits of tourism is the economic advantages it brings to the destination. Tourism can create a significant number of jobs within the industry, including accommodation, transportation, and food services. It can also lead to increased investment in the local economy, spurring growth and development. Furthermore, tourism can be a significant source of foreign exchange earnings, allowing countries to purchase essential goods and services from other countries.

However, tourism can also have negative impacts on the environment and local communities. Tourists often want to visit natural and cultural attractions, leading to increased pressure on the surrounding environment. This can result in deforestation, habitat loss, and pollution, particularly in regions that rely heavily on tourism. Tourism can also impact local communities by raising the cost of living, driving up real estate prices, and displacing local residents.

In conclusion, although tourism can bring economic benefits, it is important to recognize the negative impacts it can have on the environment and local communities. Governments and tourism operators must work to manage tourism in a sustainable and responsible manner, taking into account the needs and interests of local communities and the surrounding environment. By doing so, we can ensure that tourism continues to be a force for good, benefiting both the local economy and the communities that welcome it.

Bulan

Tourism itself has a positive side and a negative side. Some of the positive sides are that some people can apply to more jobs leading the economy in that place to flow. A lot of places can also be a decent place for tourists to have a vacation, by having a lot of tourists going to that place and enjoying that place it will get more popular and the owner will get more profit.

Although tourism could be nice, there are also some negative sides to it. Usually if the place is popular enough, there will be a lot of tourists around the globe to visit the place, some people can litter which makes the place a dirtier place.

If the place has living things such as animals or plants they can be damaged by their litter or by the tourists behavior. Some tourists can also destroy a historical place by taking parts of buildings thinking they are souvenirs, this has mostly happened in The Great Wall Of China. Other unexpected things could happen because they don’t follow the rules or even accidentally get themselves killed in a dangerous tourist destination because of not following the rules there.

So either way tourism can be a good or positive thing and it can be a bad or negative thing, although over tourism can also be a bad thing. Mostly depends on how the tourists behave, if the tourist still has the respect to the place then tourism won't be so bad, the same way around, if the tourist doesn't have respect to the place then tourism can be viewed in a negative thing

Azka

Tourism is an activity and also an industry and tourism is important for both its roles and particularly because of this dual role it plays. Tourism is important for countries, economies, societies and social structure of a country, culture and local people, and for environment too. In my opinion tourism gives a good opportunity for us. Tourism lets us learn more about the cultures of countries and their people. Tourism can improve the countries interaction with other countries.increase in jobs, a higher quality of life for locals, and an increase in wealth of an area. Tourism also has the advantage of rebuilding and restoring historic sites and encouraging the revitalization of cultures. Tourists will get to enjoy the scenery and culture of the country and posting it on social media which will make the countries more known to the rest of the world. But tourists can also cause problems to a country. Some tourist might not know the rules of a country and break them without knowing. These tourist also might joke around in a country for example a tourist might vandalize a countries property. Tourist could also do these bad things to country property for social media.Tourism often puts pressure on natural resources through over-consumption, often in places where resources are already scarce. Tourism puts enormous stress on local land use, and can lead to soil erosion, increased pollution, natural habitat loss, and more pressure on endangered species. In my opinion tourism is needed for the world but we should learn more about the country before we visit for example their rules and how to be respectful so we dont disrespect the country or break their rules.

Darryl

As humans, we enjoy exploring new environments and atmospheres to seek joy and happiness. A way we can express that is by tourism. Tourism has both good and bad benefits. For the good benefit, tourism brings us joy and refreshes us from our daily routine such as school and work. Tourism shows us the culture of the many different destinations we may visit. In addition, tourism does not mean we have to go to another country, we could also go to another city in our country. Another good benefit tourism may give us is that tourism shows us the importance of personal growth by providing opportunities for new experiences, exposure to different cultures, and personal development. While tourism brings many good benefits, it also has some negative benefits. Tourism may be such a great and happy thing but tourism needs detailed preparation especially if you are visiting another country. Some of the preparations are VISA, hotel, transportation and so much more. In addition each of the things we should prepare costs a lot of money. Another negative benefit of tourism is that touristy places will always be filled by a huge amount of tourists to the point it could not be enjoyable. This is called tourist congestion, which is overcrowding in popular tourist destinations that can lead to a negative experience for both visitors and locals, with congestion, long lines, and crowded attractions. In conclusion, with both good and bad benefits, tourism is still something we all look forward to on our long holiday. It just depends on the amount of time we are preparing for it, and being smart in choosing dates. Maybe, to avoid tourist congestion we leave earlier so it would be less crowded and also, visit places that are not too touristy and try to experience the culture instead. Personally, I am the type of tourist wanting to try the habits and culture of the place I am visiting. For example, when visiting Singapore I would prefer walking instead of using a car because most of the people there are pedestrians. How do you like your vacation, and do you agree with tourism?

Alea 9B

I agree tourism is a good thing. I agree because tourism can refresh us from work, school, or our everyday routine. By going to many different destinations we can add our knowledge about other places on Earth. It also boosts the economy of the country or city that we visit because we will buy and rent their service. And with that, their economy was getting a boost. We can also befriend or search for relationships while doing tourism. But tourism is also can be a bad thing when we do not obey the rules in the destination that we visit. Also when we do too much traveling our money can run out and we can't support our life there. Tourism is a movement of people outside their usual environment. Tourism is also important for the economy of the country and the social structure of the country because when the country receives money from tourists it can make the country a lot better through tourism. But tourism also can be bad for the country when the tourist does not obey the rules that the country has. Sometimes the tourists will break the public facilities or do something that is detrimental to the country and the country has to repair it. -belva

Tourism has become an integral part of modern life, involving millions of people every year. However, the question arises is tourism a good thing? While there are legitimate concerns about environmental and cultural impacts, I firmly believe that tourism brings many benefits to local economies, promotes intercultural understanding and encourages the preservation of cultural heritage so encouraged. First, tourism plays an important role in local economic development. When visiting a destination, tourists bring money into the local economy through spending on accommodation, food, souvenirs and other services. This revenue helps create jobs and money for local businesses. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the tourism industry accounts for 10.4% of global output and supports one in ten jobs worldwide. This figure illustrates the significant economic impact of tourism on a region, especially in developing countries where tourism can be a catalyst for economic growth Moreover, tourism encourages cross-cultural understanding. As travelers immerse themselves in a different culture, they become more tolerant and open to different ideas. By interacting with local communities, visitors gain insight into lifestyles, traditions and customs, fostering empathy and tolerance. Ultimately, this common understanding leads to global unity and peace. In addition, with the rise of social media and technology, tourists are more likely to share their experiences, thus promoting a sense of cultural exchange even beyond physical boundaries Moreover, tourism contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage. Many communities that rely on tourism rely on their cultural heritage, such as historical sites, museums and stays

-abel

In my opinion, there are a lot reasons for tourism, from just going somewhere to have a break from your work or the opposite and going on a tour to finish your work assignment to do with your co workers and have some entertainment along the way. There are benefits and negative impacts that can be caused by tourism, the positive effects are that tourism can help people earn income by doing a tour to work and get those income for their needs. From tourism we are also able to learn and see different type of cultures that are shown in the whole wide world from simple culture to the cultures that are more complexed in the world. Tourism also makes it where we communicate better with others from around the whole wide world and get to know eachother closer and better. There are also a lot of bad and negative impacts of tourism in the world, for example tourism can make impact in the green house gasses due to the ammount of vehicle such as train, planes, cars, etc. Tourism can also be quite expensive depending on certain countries that you are going to visit, and it can really waste a large percentage of our income or money that we have gathered and earned for our lives. In conclusion, tourism has bad and good impacts from it but all we can do is to use the money we have responsibly and dont just spent them too much on things that you dont really need in those situations, we can also have fun and enjoy the fun we would have and the times we would spend with our loved ones. Thats all from me, what are your opinion on tourism?

Ernest
