         <title>The group will run over the course of 8 weeks, meeting once a week for 45 minutes per session.  This will allow adequate time to meet, but is not too long that it interferes with class time.  Collaboration with teachers is essential in determining what is least disruptive to the daily schedule.  The 8 week timeline is warranted because youth today are developing in an era where social media is extremely influential and there are many sub-topics that need to be addressed that interfere with academic, career, and social/personal success.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>An example of an opening activity that could be used with middle school learners is “the feelings game” (Pinterest Post, 2018).  First, the leader hands out a designated number of skittles candy.  Then, the group facilitator assigns each color to a feeling and asks the student to describe an associated feeling.  For example: </div><div>red skittles = one thing that makes you happy</div><div>orange skittles = one thing that makes you sad</div><div>green skittles = one thing that makes you angry</div><div>yellow skittles = one thing that makes you excited</div><div>purple skittles = one thing that makes you afraid.</div><div>This opening/icebreaker activity, appropriate for middle school students, could be a fun, creative, and lighthearted way for students to connect to one another and to the group facilitator (Sink, Edwards, &amp; Eppler, 2012) as individuals. It's important to remember that students might not yet feel comfortable within the group and can opt to pass if they do not want to share. </div>]]></description>

If time allows, the leader could allow each student to share them out loud and type them into the wordle website. If time does not allow, this is how the next session would start.          <description><![CDATA[<div><mark>Video 2 of 2</mark><br>This video presents teenagers discussing the pros and cons of utilizing social media applications.  Each young man and woman candidly reveals experiences and moments, which they have personally observed via the access of different social media platforms.  This video is a great piece that brings up various, significant points of discussion for the group sessions.  It can help group members to easily identify with stories and ease into the forum of the group setting, without having to initiate those conversations on their own.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This activity has a designed set of “dilemmas” to create an open forum of discussion on social media issues.  It can easily be adapted to address the appropriate context, developmental, social/emotional level of middle school learners.  Additionally, it can provide several opportunities for the young group members to drive the group session and engage in honest, open conversation.  Activities such as this could inform the group leader, as far as planning and what needs to be addressed – moving forward – or what aspects of cyber-social situations require more attention.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This activity allows for students to work in groups and share ideas on how to be (and put forth) their best digital selves.  Each pair/group will respond to the specific prompt to create one piece of the poster/puzzle.  After every pairing completes their task, the whole group will reassemble to put the ideas together for the collective piece to be formed.  Creating this poster can be an important assessment piece for the facilitator and provide a great point of reference for the group sessions that follow.  Moreover, group members would have the opportunity to gain each other’s perspectives and begin the work of building the necessary cohesion and trust that will allow the group to thrive, all while applying their ideas/thoughts towards maintain a productive social media presence. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This activity is a creative way to bring closure to a group. It involves having students write down what they learned on a piece of paper, then wading it up. On the leader's cue, the students  throw their paper snowballs in the air.
