The age group involved in this documentation panel are 4-5 Years old, completed on the 17th of October. At the moment, these children have a strong interest in construction, such as using hammers and other household tools. The centre's environment is an indoor space which allows the children to explore their interest, which involves them being given the opportunity to use the tools stated above.

These observations show the children's ability and interest in using households and learning how to use them properly. Though, looking over these observations I have seen Gardner's theory of Multiple intelligences (Cherry, 2023), as the children within these observation are showcasing bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence, as they are using their motor skills and have great hand-eye coordination. The children within these observations are in Jean Piaget's cognitive development, stage pre-operational (Main, 2022), which states that children are capable of incredible growth and learning, which is shown though the children's ability to quickly pick up how to use household tools. Another developmental theory that is seen within these observations is Lev Vygotsky's sociocultural theory of cognitive development (Williams, 2019), which states that children learn from observing each other and taking part in hands-on activities, which are showcased in all the observations as these observations are both hands-on and provide children with the ability to watch each other take part.

The learning that is possible after these observations is ensure to teach the children to use the tools safely and properly to ensure no one gets injured though the use of the tools. To provoke the children to use the tools safely, I will provided them with safety glasses when interacting with these tools. As well as, setting aside time to have a conversation with the children about what we should and shouldn't do when using the tools, such as we don't put the measuring tape across the whole room, we only take measurements of furniture or each other.

After having a conversation with the children about how to use household tools safely though having all the children sit down on a matt in a circle to have classroom conversation, I ensured I set out ways we can stay safe within the classrooms when using the tools, such as,
-no running with tools
-only use hammers and screwdrivers when sitting down
-use the glasses provided when using all tools
-measuring tapes is used for measuring each and objects, not as a toy
-watching out for our fingers when using the hammer
This conversation with the children went very well, the children understood that this was how we will use the tools safely within the classroom to ensure no one gets injured. This could be improved by having these rules up within the classroom to remind the children of how to use the tools safely. To ensure when engaging I would ask them questions like do we run with hammers?, then they would no etc. I would also ask the children what they would think could happen if they didn't use the tools safely and properly. I took a step back and allowed the children to ask questions about how to use the tools properly. One child asked how do I get the nails out safely and explain how to use the back of hammer and then told the children if it was still too hard to then ask for assistance from an educator, but to always have a try first.
