Global Issue: Abuse and miss treatment toward Jane at Gateshead as well as social groups.

IB Concepts: Identity and shows what kind of person Jane is along with the Reeds.

Gothic Novel Elements: Atmosphere and isolation to show how bad Jane's life at Gateshead is.

Elements of the supernatural: The Red Room that Jane put in carries ghost and dead of the unknown.

Violence and oppression: John Reed abuses and strikes Jane and Mrs.reed is very cruel to Jane.

Identity: Jane has the identity of justice and she shows she never gives up as she resists John's abusive behavior.

IB Concepts: Jane shows her Identity by standing up for herself against her aunt and saying how she was a bad person.

Gothic Elements: Jane's aunt locks her in a chamber with no light and all alone. She was not only terrified because of the dark and her loneliness, but that chamber was also where her uncle died years previously.

IB Concept: Identity of Jane's siblings and her aunt, seeing how difficult and self-centered they are.

Literary Element: Metaphor comparing a leafless shrubbery to an hour in the morning to give us a image of what it would look like.

Gothic Element: Isolation in the red room after she acted out.

Literary elements: Imagery is present in order to show the reader how horrific her abuse is. It emphasizes how badly she was treated.

Gothic novel elements: Gloomy atmosphere and death present in the red room due to the fact that someone had died there and no one usually goes in that room.

On page 6 while Jane is getting yelled at how she knows that she will be struck. I chose the global issue of abuse because she said "I knew he would soon strike" as if he had done it many times before.

On page 7 even though Jane gets struck she still yells back showing her character by standing up for herself.

On page 7 she describes that blood is trickling down her head and described how she was injured.

-Global Issue, Abuse: 'Without speaking, he struck suddenly and strongly.' John hits Jane because she has supposedly done something wrong.

-Gothic Novel Element, Intense emotion: 'The pain was sharp;my terror had passed its climax: other feelings succeeded"

Her emotions are very strong here because of the amount of pain she feels physically from being hit and how she is terrified of John at the moment.

-IB Concept, Culture: 'Besides, there is something truly forbidding in a child taking up her elders in that manner. Be seated somewhere; until you can speak pleasantly, remain silent.' She is told in her society that basically, if you aren't told to speak or if you want to say anything out-of-character then stay silent. It is frowned upon.

Gothic novel element : Isolation and intense emotions from Jane Eyre due to being isolated in the Red Room and as a effect of that, she was sad due to being hurt physically and also being locked up for unjust reasons.

• Jane faced obstacles of dishonesty, trauma, abuse, and neglect from her aunt and cousins.

• The perspective of Jane's life compared to her cousins differs. Her cousins are spoiled by Mrs. Reed while she is ignored.

• The red-room represents Mr. Reed's death and the fear of staying in that room.

• Soliloquy- There are points in the story where she talks to herself out loud and not to someone specific.

• Jane is left isolated in the red-room as punishment, she is locked inside so she can't get out and has to sleep there through the night.

IB concept: Perspective, Jane makes it clear to the Reed family that she does not care for and wants nothing to do with them because of their treatment to her, while the family does not believe so

Gothic novel elements: Isolation, Jane is constantly talking to the Reed family or Bessie and they all disregard what she says.

treated by the other adults and people of power is very abusive and can leave scar both physically and emotionally. But the worse part is that she’s unable to retaliate

transformation of Jane from a timid child who would take the hits, the abuse, and never replying to the abuse. To a girl who has a burst of intense emotions that made her desire independents and freedom

Literary Elements: The narrator gives 2 major imagery through the perspective of Jane, her environment, her personality, her emotions and especially how she’s being treated by the others inside the book.

The gothic element: there’s 2 elements in the book, the first is intense emotions that is used a lot to describe the pain Jane feels at being mistreated physically. The second is isolation a punishment she’s receiving from her abused to affect her mentally because a person can’t be mentally stable with no human contact and being isolated.
