Q1: Academic Integrity Statement

For this assignment like all of my past assignments and exams for this course, I have abided fully by the HFC Academic Integrity Policy. This means I did not use any method that would constitute cheating by the HFC Policy Standards. I promise to behave ethically and avoid any matters that violate the integrity policy. I did not receive answers from any other students or use their work in any way that is considered wrong and all my work is my own. I also did not use technology software to assist me like AI in answering my questions.

Q2: Holland's Career Test Activity

The results were as follows!!!

Holland's Career Test 1 gave me the code of EAI. This stands for Enterprising, Artistic, and investigative.

Holland's Career Test 2 gave me the code of CSE.

Reflection:

After taking these tests which by the way I did enjoy because they were all-encompassing, the results did kind of give me a mixed reaction. For the first Test, I see how I scored high on Enterprise and Investigative. Although I do not see myself as very artistic that was kind of surprising to see. Some of the jobs they gave me were News Analyst and Video game designer. Now while I think I have pretty good public presentation skills and I do enjoy playing video games, those aren't necessarily jobs I see myself doing in the future.

For the second Test, the code was CSE and CSR. I do think I am very conventional which I did score very high on even in my first career test. The jobs that matched these results were very different from the first. They are also not jobs I would like to find myself in. Although, I do not mind temporary jobs like a librarian.

Q3: Lessons from CH 13 and CH 14

One scary thing that I read from chapter 13 specifically was about memory and how that declines with age. On page 369, the book mentions how even though competency and wisdom get stronger with age, one thing that lags behind and actually performs worse with time is memory. One thing I probably fear more than dying is forgetting precious memories. That is what makes us human and not a robot so that is something I wish to avoid in the future. With that being said, the book also mentions on pages 374-375 how their is memory memory-enhancing tips we can train ourselves with and how to help our mental state from deteriorating.

Chapter 14 talks more so about the physical aspects of later life. One thing I found interesting on page 402 of the textbook is about our vision and how it worsens over time. How we can be blind to certain colors and more sensitive to glare. I would like to have good eyesight as I grow up as I think that gives life more quality. A few things the book talks about is staying on top with you vision and making adjustments as necessary around the home as to not cause so much strain.

Q4: Real Age Quiz Results

After I took the test, the results came in as me being a little under 2 years my chronological age. I have to say I am not sure how exactly they got to this age but I guess I cannot complain. Some things I see that are helping me stay young are that I am a non-smoker and I make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Some things I was recommended to do by the test which I fully agree with is to check my cholesterol levels and keep watch on my blood pressure. Things I do need to work on is maybe stop worrying so much about my financial situation and try to get more healthy color in my diet. I would like to think I eat healthy but I definitely need to explore more with the different food groups and see what exactly works for me. I would recommend people take this test even though it's not necessarily a hundred percent accurate, I think it does a pretty good job at giving a ballpark description. I definitely feel better about myself and more informed of where I need to improve.

Q5: Living to 100 Results

According to the test results, my life expectancy is about 85 years old which I would say is average to above average for a man. Obviously, I am not in a rush to be dying so taking this test really kind of opened my eyes. Even though it is only a calculated age and so much can happen from now and 66 more years, I really liked answering these questions. I also like the feedback section it offered which shows some things I can enact in my life to increase that life expectancy even more. It broke down some items into categories like flossing every day and getting my blood pressure checked. All these pretty simple things that I can incorporate can add a few extra years to my life. Not only that, these things do not seem surprising or out of the ordinary like limiting sun exposure and managing my weight. They are all realistic things I can set for myself and make goals to reach so I can live a more fulfilling life.

Q6: Thoughts on the Life Stages

The most ideal stage of our life I would say is the Early to Middle adulthood. This is where you're no longer a teenager but also not a person well into their 30's or 40's. The reason I think this is the most ideal is because this is kind of what your life has been leading too and what you do here will also impact the rest of your life. If two oceans were to meet, this life stage would sort of be that divide. This is where so much action in our lives will be. We will have lots of energy and make lots of mistakes on the way. Section 10.2 of the textbook talks a lot about constructing an identity and this age stage is where it happens. This section also talks about how society puts a lot of stress on people this age and I think that can also be a positive in it. You are able to shape the next 30-40 years of your life with what you learn in this life stage. This is why I think it is the most important of our lives.

Q7: My Honest Thoughts on PSY 253

To be fair, I registered for this class assuming it wasn't going to be entirely difficult like a chemistry or math course. My assumption was correct. However, what I didn't anticipate is how much I learned and the information I will be able to take away and apply in my life! For one, I liked how professor Buchanan had everything broken down by week and it was easy to follow along. The weekly emails we get from her are also not a bad idea as they kind of give that well-needed summary. Taking the class fully online was of course my decision since it offered me flexibility. I REALLY LOVED the achieve website. Assignments were very easy to navigate and I like how you have chances to re do problems so I would definitely recommend that stay.

Not much I didn't like in this course to be honest it was really good keep doing what you're doing Professor Buchanan!
