In the first half of the video, Anna describes the importance of the engagement stage all social workers will do when meeting their clients for the first time. It is the moment when the social worker can establish rapport and a "trusting relationship" with the client, as Anna describes. This step also includes the social worker explaining to the client the confidentiality and confidentiality limit.

Anna describes the assessment stage as the phase that continues after the client consents. It is the stage in which the social worker determines the "presenting problems" of the client while also evaluating what strengths the client has as well. Assessment can be done in many different forms as provided by social work research over the years.

Anna describes the intervention stage as having space for planning as well. However, the intervention stage is used when the social worker has made its plan to "actively work to meet the goals and objectives set by the client." This can not only be the client meeting with the social worker for a therapy session, but it can also be referring a client to resources or providing a client with techniques to meet their goals when they are not in session with the social worker.
