I am very interested in using Inkle. I like the idea of creating a digital book.My idea is to use this with student researching jobs. They will find a picture and then write a description of Title, educational level, salary level. This way student will get a larger perspective of what is available.

I am going to try Build Your Wild Self with my students. After they choose an Endangered Animal and complete their digital research slide, digital board builder or document, their next step will be to turn themselves into the animal and be creative. This looks really fun for the students to use informative, imaginative and creativity to share with the class for a fun oral presentation. Something quite different, which I am looking forward to doing.
http://www.buildyourwildself.com/

I would love to use Build Your Wild Self with my students to integrate science and creative story writing or poem writing! At the end of our animal life cycle unit, I would have each student create their "Wild Self" and print it out, or save it as a graphic, if possible. Then, I would have them write a story using the facts that are generated based on the parts on their bodies. The stories would be part fact, and part fiction. Some students may choose to do a creative diamante poem or acrostic poem instead, based on their "Wild Self". Ideally, I would have the students import their graphic into Google Docs and do their writing in the same document. Then everyone would share their story or poem with the class.

I would like to try Animoto in my 5th grade band class. My project idea is for the students to create a video that captures their 5 grade band experience. Students would record themselves performing in small groups or solo two times during the school year in class. The first recording would be at the six week mark and the second recording would be at week 25. Students will also be able to include clips from their three public performances throughout the year. At the end of the year, students will create their video showcasing their 5th grade band experience. I can't wait to try this!

I loved six of these creative ideas: Animoto, What if, Bubblr, Build Your Wild Self, Story Bird, and Inkle. I teach an exploratory class and the kids are already doing cartooning, but Bubblr would be great because it makes it digital. I love that. I’m going to try Bubblr with my exploratory class on Monday. I’ll have them work with a partner ( I have 22 students in this class) and find photos that relate to the cartoon characters, theme of their story, or possibly choose a nature theme and build on that as an introduction to this digital format. Together they will create the captions and an overall story for their comic. I’m sure it will be a bit of exploring with things.

I’m excited about a lot of these ideas as I do blogging with my class so I think I will also try Story Bird as well; it seems to be an all-in-one place for kids to create a story.

Thanks for sharing these ideas.

I also love the program "Build your wild self" and could see using it for creative writing and science. After doing research on ecosystems and determining facts on habitats, students could create a wild self and go on a wild adventure through various habitats, giving facts of each habitat as they go. If the image can be saved and copy/pasted, students could insert the image on every page of a slideshow or googledoc and insert other graphics as visual aids. I could also see myself using "What If Genie" for creative writing and free-writes. I love that the questions are so abstract and encourages creativity and not-so-normal characters or situations. The last activity I could see myself using right away is BOGGLE. We study root words extensively in our class and students could use BOGGLE to create words based on the root words they are learning in class. What a great website to share! Thanks!

David S. Barboza All of these online tools are great. I would like to try them all. The one that got my attention was Free Rice. After playing with it, I enjoyed myself by testing my skills in Humanities, Math and many other subjects including my discipline foreign language. I was able to review learned concepts and it felt great knowing that for every correct answer I got there was a 10 grain rice donation through the World Food Programme to help end hunger. I would like to do an ongoing project/competition each trimester to see which of my classes donates the most. You can create graphs to show their weekly results. The classes can compare and contrast their results. As an additional incentive, the winning class will have an additional culture celebration. I liked this website because it is simple, very user friendly and it will monitor itself.
