         <description><![CDATA[<div>As hemácias ou glóbulos vermelhos são responsáveis por transportar oxigênio dos pulmões para os tecidos do corpo e dióxido de carbono dos tecidos para os pulmões. Elas contêm hemoglobina, uma proteína que se liga ao oxigênio e ajuda a transportá-lo. As hemácias são produzidas na medula óssea e sua cor vermelha é devido à presença de ferro na hemoglobina. Além disso, elas ajudam a manter o equilíbrio ácido-base do corpo, mantendo o pH sanguíneo em níveis normais.</div>]]></description>

Eles são produzidos na medula óssea e se diferenciam em macrófagos, células dendríticas e células espumosas ao alcançarem os tecidos do corpo.
