         <title>Why is important the climate change?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Climate change is the change in the long term weather pattern of earth. Earth weather keeps on varying  year on year basis but over a period of decade or century it doesn't change much. Climate change takes place over a long period of time and slowly, due to global warming temperature has rose more rapidly to about 0.8 degree Celsius of pre-industrial levels. There are many reason for climate change like change in the amount of solar radiation received by earth or volcanic eruption but the recent, sudden and rapid climate change is occurring because of human activity.<br>Human made Climate change is because of the burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum in very large quantities since the beginning of 20th century because of industrial revolution. Since the inception of 20th century there has been a meteoric rise in the population as well and it has been putting pressure on the limited land resources. Carbon absorbing forest are being cut down for farms and industrial production has to be intensified to meet the demand which is in turn resulting in more emission of Green House gases and hence global warming.<br>This global warming has resulted in climate change.We are facing erratic weather patterns. some areas of earth are facing frequent floods and droughts then before. In long term this climate change might result in reduction in forest area. Also the rising sea level because of melting ice caps pose danger to the island countries. Rise in temperature may result in heat waves during summer and warmer winter which will effect the crops as well as Human health especially of  child and elderly.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In most of Argentina, the warming since 1901 was a little lower than the global average, although with strong trends in temperature extremes and in heat waves during the most recent decades. There was a remarkable increase in precipitation over most of subtropical Argentina, especially since 1960. This has favored agriculture yields and the extension of crop lands into semiarid regions, but this increase also came with more frequent heavy rainfalls and consequent flooding of rural and urban areas. Since the early 1970s, the main rivers of the Plata Basin have increased their mean flows, but this was attributable not only to increased precipitation, but also to land use changes. In contrast, over the Andes Mountains, reduced rainfall and increased temperature has led to glaciers receding and reduced river flows. Climate projections for the first half of this century maintain observed trends and raise additional concerns that in most cases can be dealt with timely adaptation policies. However, by the end of this century, under an extreme emissions scenario, the projected warming reaches 3.5°C in the north of the country with respect to present‐day conditions. There is insufficient knowledge to assume that this warming would not create severe damages to the people and the economy of Argentina. Because of the damages and casualties that heat waves and extreme precipitation events are already producing, the first and most urgent adaptation required is to reinforce early warning systems and contingency planning to cope with climatic extremes and their consequences on health.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The United Nations <a href="http://www.theclimategroup.org/what-we-do/news-and-blogs/2013-was-the-sixth-warmest-year-un-finds/">confirmed</a> that the past decade was the warmest ever recorded, following a trend of increasing warmth since 1950. This warming has led to massive droughts from the United States to Syria to Australia, and increased flooding from the Philippines to South America. Fresh water lakes are drying up while sea levels are rapidly rising, and, as a recent <a href="http://www.nasa.gov/press/2014/may/nasa-uci-study-indicates-loss-of-west-antarctic-glaciers-appears-unstoppable/">NASA report</a> confirmed, six Antarctic glaciers have begun rapid and irreversible ice collapse that is predicted to raise the planet’s sea levels by over a meter within the next two centuries, greatly impacting all coastal cities (including ours).</div>]]></description>

According to the report, greenhouse gases will lead to more frequent and more extreme flooding events from Misiones to Buenos Aires. <br><br>Droughts in the West:<br><br>While Buenos Aires and Iguazú will be home to too much rain, the Patagonian provinces of Mendoza and San Juan are at high risk for debilitating drought.<br>This drought would have devastating impacts on the famous grapes of these provinces that thrive in an arid climate, but wither away in drought conditions. <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/dec/31/planet-will-warm-4c-2100-climate">Current projections</a> estimate that the global temperature will be warm enough to suffocate the grapes of Patagonia by the century’s end.<br><br>Melting Glaciers in the South:<br><br>This one shouldn’t be a shocker: warming global temperatures causes glaciers to melt. But just because it’s obvious doesn’t make the situation any less dire: The Upsala glacier, which was once one of the biggest glaciers in the world, has begun shrinking at the alarming rate of 200 meters a year, losing 8 kilometers so far in the past 25 years. Jorge Rabbasa, a scientist from The Centre for Science Research in Argentina, told <em>Ciencia HOY</em> magazine that as long as the rate of greenhouse gases continues, “it is very probable that between 2020 and 2030, most of these ice bodies will be gone.”</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The economic side of the report adds a new level of price-tag gravitas. Without any substantial mitigation efforts or international aid, the report asserts that combined costs of infrastructure damage and lost agriculture revenue will require over 10 percent of Argentina’s GDP by 2030. <em>By the end of the century, it will render the nation insolvent.<br></em>But it isn’t all bad – at least so far, this warmer, wetter climate has been a <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/24/us-argentina-soy-hoarding-analysis-idUSBREA2N0M520140324">boon for soy</a>, but at the cost of wheat, corn and forest. So at least we can rest easy knowing we’ll always be able to eat our soy burgers and drink soy smoothies on our soy couches from the comfort of our soy houses.</div>]]></description>
