His sister hina cut all of her off and gave it to maui to make a rope out of it, and maui went to the highest mountain in hawaii. At first maui wasn't sure he could hold on longer before the sun burned through Hina hair, but before he gave up.

The elements I seen in the story was the bravery that maui had, he was unsure of how he was going to do something that was difficult for him but he succeeded, not only did it benefit him but for everyone.
