</p><p>DIARY:</p><p>I now understand the contents of unit 5&amp;6 such as analysing video and audio files.</p><p>my personal target for the day was to understand how to make effective sound effects, and i believe i have fulfilled this target as i helped create sound effects and oversaw the editing process. Next lesson i would like to edit the levels and other aspects of sound by myself to learn how to independently create audio.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This scene in 'whiplash' portrays the relationship between the teacher and student. The student does not know know the first song and eventually gives up playing the drums. He walks off stage clearly feeling betrayed by his teacher - who may have just ruined his career. He manages to pluck up the courage and go back on stage once the orchestra have finished. Without being instructed to he begins to play the song 'whiplash' that he has been learning for months whilst he is refusing to listen to his teacher telling him to stop. He surprises the teacher as he pulls off the song perfectly, he then begins to encourage him throughout the song. The music uses various sound techniques to reflect the tone and atmosphere such as crescendo and major keys to reflect this toxic relationship.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>At the start of the lesson we looked at scenes from different movies and noted how the music is effective and how it changes tone and atmosphere in the scene. First we watched a 15 minute scene from the film whiplash which showed a student playing the drums at a gig and we saw how he proved his sabotaging teacher wrong. We then looked at clips from other films to see different voice techniques. Once we looked at these clips and analysed them we got to doing voice exercises and improving our posture. Lastly we found a script to read in groups. My group chose a script from the film toy story 3. We then recorded us reading it aloud 3 times, each time trying something different. For example I had to play the part of one male and one female character so I changed the pitch and speed of my voice for each character. One problem our group encountered whilst recording our version of the script was that our voices were muffled as the phone mic was facing the floor and not properly picking up our voices. And we also didn't really know our lines that well and so interrupted each other's lines. To solve these problems we turned the phone upside down so that the mic was facing us and we also practiced reading our lines before recording our final attempt.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today's lesson we focused on the visuals of this unit. The first task we done today was have a group meeting and record the meeting minutes. After this we had 20 minutes to read and present each of our scripts for the story, and then decide which one we would use, in our case they were very similar and therefore we only took the best bits of each story and combined them. Once we had decided on our final story and plot we created one final storyboard as a pair. We had 30 minutes after this to go and start sketching our background and props that we will need for our animation.<br><br></div>]]></description>

evaluate the process</p><p>Today i did not meet my target as i decided that i was going to work on the backgrounds instead of the sounds as i knew that the backgrounds would need more time taken on them and i could also record some sounds at home if i needed. next lesson i will complete the last two backgrounds and start on the animation or sound effects, whichever i have time to complete.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The start of last lesson we had our project meeting and decided on our roles for the day. We decided that i needed to complete a front cover for our animation and so i began editing the teddy by adding different fur textures to it on photoshop. I then took this image of the teddy and put it on a plain black canvas where i wrote the name of the book and our names to it. My second task for the day was to complete the voices for the characters and start coming up with music for the background and intro/outro. After we had decided on our tasks for the day we updated our production schedule.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Today we went back to have a agenda meeting and decided that we would do any finishing touches to our animation and also edit the levels for the audio. Our second task for the day was to share documents that we created for these units and upload them onto our pad let pages so that they are up to date. Some problems we found whilst looking through our animation included the character going missing for split seconds within transitions. To fix this problem we combined the backgrounds into one file so that there was a constant background for the character to be on. We also listened back to the audio and found that the music was too loud and didn't work with the voice over very well, so i looked at the levels and made slight changes until i was happy with the final audio. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think the podcast was analytical as he went through events in different scenes. He also took into account what the director was trying to get across and how certain things made audiences react. He was able to connect the visuals with the audio such as lyrics in a song and speech with hidden meanings that related to the overall plot. For example he showed us a scene from the film where the young boy said to the main character "he isn't a good guy, he's a shark" to which he replied " can't there be good sharks?"&nbsp; He was trying to relate this to his own situation.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The song known as Bella's lullaby has been changed in this scene from the original song from the first film. This change accompanies her transition from human to vampire. I find this song memorable as it uses techniques such as crescendo so the music builds up the more tense the scene becomes. The editors also left in the sounds from the scene surrounding Bella swell such as her heartbeat, this shows that she is alive and so the rest of the song becomes upbeat using only major notes.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
