         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>Ubi kayu kennem </strong>– Ubi kayu kennem is grated tapioca that is soaked in water till it starts to ferment. The fermented tapioca is then cooked as fritters. It is a popular breakfast or snack option.<br><br></div><div><strong>Lemang</strong> – Lemang is glutinous rice that is wrapped in banana leaf and filled into bamboo logs. It takes good amount of practice to cook the rice to perfection. It is eaten along with meat curry.<br><br><strong>Umbut Bayas Masak Gulai </strong>– It is a scrumptious palm pith curry which is again cooked in bamboo logs.  The pith is the spongy, starch filled center of a palm stem.<br><br></div><div><strong>Ketupat </strong>– They are rice cakes that are cooked in coconut leaves. The coconut leaves are weaved together to form little pockets. The pockets are filled with rice and steamed, till the rice puffs up and fills the coconut pocket.<br><br></div>]]></description>

They mainly practice <strong>animism</strong>, which is the belief that natural objectives, phenomena, and the universe itself have desires and intension.<br><br>They have a lot of rules or in Malay is ' <strong>Pantang Larang</strong>'. For example marriage with close relatives are not allowed and they bride and groom must be from a different area or village.(consanguineous marriage)<br><br>They believe that certain things will either bring them good or bad. So, they avoid the things that can bring bad omen all together. Also, they believe that a number of immortal superhuman beings live in the stone pillars and below the earth. They were once humans and  occasionally return to earth and appear in people’s dreams. Semang shaman are known as <strong><em>hala</em></strong>.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Government implemented specific development programs for the <em>Orang Asli</em>, including economic and social programs that improved their standard of living. The income-generating activities implemented&nbsp; development, vegetable farming and livestock rearing as well as retail business and handicraft industries. <br><br><strong>JABATAN KEMAJUAN ORANG ASLI (JAKOA)</strong><br><strong>State Economy Development Program</strong></div><div>Through this program, focus is given to financing farm development projects. This project is implemented through RISDA and FELCRA to develop palm oil and rubber plantations. This project is the main activity of the Department in an <strong>effort to reduce the incidents of poverty among the Orang Asli community.</strong><br><br></div><div><strong><br>Expansion Program (Course)</strong></div><div>The Expansion Program (course) is aimed to <strong>provide training and exposure </strong>to the Orang Asli community that have potential <strong>in plantation and modern farming projects</strong>. Among the courses that are implemented are the palm oil plantation maintenance courses, hydroponic plantations, rubber cultivation methods, livestock courses and others.<br><br></div><div><strong><br>Entrepreneur Mentoring Program</strong></div><div>Through this program apart from <strong>promoting Orang Asli products</strong>, various <strong>incentives</strong> are available to <strong>Orang Asli start-up</strong>s who have attended entrepreneurship courses organised by the Department. Among the incentives provided are business equipment assistance, input material assistance and etc. Various business fields that are explored by the Orang Asli such as grocery stores, restaurants, vehicle workshops, cyber cafes, construction field and many others.<br><br></div><div><strong><br>Retail Space Development Program</strong></div><div>The Department has also allocated for the <strong>construction of premises for retail space</strong> to the Orang Asli people who are involved in business. The construction of retail space for the participants are subjected to the fixed criteria in the Guidelines for Providing Assistance to Entrepreneurs and Companies/Industry within the Orang Asli Community. Among the types of premises built are craft shops, grocery shops, motorcycle workshops, restaurants and tailoring shops.<br><br></div><div><strong><br>Income Generation Program, Social Welfare Development Scheme (SPKR)</strong></div><div>Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) through JAKOA provided the Income Generation Program (PPP) to achieve the goal of <strong>reducing extreme poverty</strong> in line with the government’s wishes. Among the assistance provided through this program are agricultural machinery equipment, fisheries input materials, fishing equipment, vegetation projects, potato plantations, lime plantations, tilapia fish farming, village poultry livestock, goats, and etc. Applications for participation in this program can be applied through the Orang Asli Affairs Office in the respective district, and a list of qualified candidates and attendees will be forwarded to the Government secretariat level to acknowledge the assistance of the project.</div>]]></description>

They have a leader that is called <strong>'Tok Batin'</strong> that is in charge of keeping the order and peace within the community. They also are responsible for any sort of connection to the outside world.<br><br>They also have a <strong>Shaman</strong>, a spiritual leader, who takes care of anything in ritualistic nature. He in charge for partaking in any religion rituals and anything that has to do with their <strong>religion</strong>.<br><br>The roles of <strong>Tok Batin</strong>:<br> - Keeping order and peace within the community<br> - Setting the rules and responsible for coming up a punishment for those who comitted crime in tribes.<br> - Determine the customs and taboos within tribes<br> - Solemnize wedding and bless the wedding</div>]]></description>
