         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Started in 1934<br>-President Roosevelt signed the "Gold Act"&nbsp;<br>-Control economic growth-control the gold.<br>-Illegal for americans to own gold<br>-Inflate currency&nbsp;<br>-Built to guard huge inventory of all the gold.<br>-In 1935 congress authorized the construction of the gold vault.&nbsp;<br>-Right next door to a major calvary base Fort Knox.&nbsp;<br>-In 1936 the U.S. mint took over building.&nbsp;<br>-A lot of gold was delivered to fort knox by train.&nbsp;<br>-First train-&nbsp; 100 million dollars in gold arrived early January 1937.&nbsp;<br>- 6 billion dollars in gold is shipped by U.S. mail<br>-Local farm boys were hired to unload gold.<br>-2nd train- Lat january 1937 disaster massive rains flooded ohio river- railroad tracks swamped. Did not get to Fort Knox until almost february<br>-had shipments scheduled 2 X a week.&nbsp;<br>-Had 4 RR companies that ran 40 train loads with 552 train cars to complete job july 1937.<br>- Vault contains 6 billion dollars in gold which equals 5,000 tons.&nbsp;<br>-Workers were guarded by guards and surveillance<br>1 gold bar was 40 pounds<br>-Doug simmons was let go due to the fact that he had been there long enough and seen to much.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Guards tolerate no one that doesn't belong<br>-ABSOLUTELY NO ONE &nbsp; IS ALLOWED TO ENTER/VISIT.&nbsp;<br>-Familair pop culture icon<br>- Subject of movie GOLDFINGER&nbsp;<br>- The setting of sequel to national treasure.&nbsp;<br>-After WW2 U.S. was in debt to france and which they demanded gold and for the longest time the american people believed there was no gold left in the vault after paying debts to france.&nbsp;<br>-The american people tried very hard to get into the vault and inspect but the fort would not let anyone in to inspect.&nbsp;<br>-In 1974- One and only time in history dozen congressmen and 100 jounalists were invited in.&nbsp;<br>-At market time each brick was worth about $65,000.<br>-Many guard boxes- if you try to take an aerial picture of the base you will go to jail. There are three different barriers surrounding the entire base.&nbsp;<br>-Always were trees around the base but now all trees are gone.&nbsp;<br>-Treasury has given very little information about the vault.&nbsp;<br>-Rumor has it the vault if like a bank in france that floods the vault drowning the intruders.&nbsp;<br>-Pretty much when it comes to anything dealing with security it is a secret and a mystery. <br><br></div>]]></description>
