In my opinion, the story talked about racism the most. At school, the narrator got bullied from the other girls at her school. They called her skinny and asked her if she ate rice and beans and pork chop, assuming that’s what she ate being Puertorican. When she was at school the other girls didn't treat her very kindly, they called her names and made fun of her. This bad treatment occurred outside of school as well, when she went to Eugene's house to study his mother told her that Eugene didn't need help with school and that he didn't need friends because it would make it harder on him when they leave.
