Okonkwo kills Ikemefuma because he is afraid of being thought to be weak. Weakness is associated with women. 

"Okonkwo drew his machete and cut him down. He was afraid of being thought weak (37)".

Onkonkwo was ashamed of his father because he could not provide for his family & did not take a title. 

In Ibo culture, men who do not take a title & were poor were considered to be on the same level as women. 

"He (Unoka) was poor and his wife and children had barely enough to eat (4)".

Okonkwo didn't think his father was manly because he couldn't stand the sight of blood or war. "Unoka was never happy when it came to wars. He was in fact a coward and could not bear the sight of blood (4)".
