You’ve always been there for me when I’ve needed a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on or a constant supply of chocolate. You are genuinely one of the most kind, caring and supportive people I know, despite the odd outburst and rolling of the eyes over the years but I won’t go into them.
 
Blimey, we’ve been through a lot together (not for mentioning on here though!) and we’ve had lots of laughs along the way. You have been the best boss ever and I’m gutted you're leaving but you’ll be my friend for life, whether you like it or not. We really have been lucky to have you! 

I’ve gone through a box of tissues while writing this, so I dread to think what I’ll be like on your last day! 
 
Enjoy your retirement and make sure it involves lots of snooker, a moderate amount of real ale, trips to the theatre, bird watching galore and everything else that's on your bucket list! Don’t forget to put your feet up now and again to relax with a good book!

I can't believe you're going - you've been a constant for me since the day I started - I remember you being so helpful 'back in the day' when I piloted the Uni design for Faculty course brochures. 

Thank-you so much for your support and your positive energy over the years - it's been a real delight to work with you and I'll  miss you!
