She travelled to London to offer her services to the British Army as a nurse. </div><div>She spent her life helping the soldiers victim of the Crimean War. </div><div>She gave food and drink to British officiers and soldiers in Crimea (Ukraine/Russia) </div>]]></description>

Britain was finding it expensive to protect its remaining colonies. The British Empire adopted a policy of peaceful disengagment from its colonies. It signed the end of the British Empire. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After the end of the second World War, there were more migrants coming to Britain. A group of white working class men began hostilities toward black people. For example, on 24th August 1958 there were serious assaults on 6 West Indians in Notting Hill. Now the racial riots have ended. </div><div>The Notting Hill Carnival was a response to the riots.</div>]]></description>

In 1833, Britain made an Act (a law) that abolished slavery in the British Empire. </div><div>This started the end of slavery in the Caribbean. </div>]]></description>

Columbus thought the Indians were hostile as they attacked his men. He thought he discovered India. And the mission to Hispania had failed and the Spanish did not want to leave the Caribbean because they captured it first. There was a war between Spain and Britain for Jamaica and the British won.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
